Witnesses told WISN 12, a local news station, that a pair of men were fighting in a park when one pulled out a knife. Witnesses reportedly told the station that the men appeared “startled” by the massive police response, and that the men were fired upon by “numerous officers.” Other reports suggested only a single officer opened fire.

It had fuckall to do with the RNC, and the response by officers is ridiculous. One guy trying to kill or wound another, but the cop jumps in and says nah, let me do that for you?

That homeless man wasn't running for president so his murder by cop was justified. You see he had 2 knifes on his person and was walking away from law enforcement against their orders so he deserved to die?

A homeless man was shot because there were too many cops around.

14th and Vliet is near the secure zone of the Republican National Convention, but we have no reason to believe this incident is connected to events at the RNC.

TMJ4 spoke to two people, who said they witnessed the shooting, telling TMJ4 they saw a man walk across Vliet St., and said police followed him across the street, and shot the man in the back.

According to the witnesses, the man lived at a nearby homeless encampment with them and was just trying to cross the street when police shot him.

"More than 4,000 additional law enforcement officials are in Milwaukee for the RNC, and we've long feared how this heavy police presence could increase the risk of deadly police encounters, especially by out-of-state officers who don’t know and aren’t accountable to our community. We offer our condolences to the friends and family of the person killed."

Some context that you left out...

MPD says several officers from Columbus Ohio observed a man, armed with a knife in each hand, and was engaged in an ‘altercation’ with another man they say was unarmed.

They say officers identified themselves as police officers and made several commands for the 43-year-old to drop the knife.

Police say the man refused and charged at the unarmed man with the knives. That’s when several officers discharged their firearms, killing the 43-year-old man.

Surveillance video appears to show the shooting in the middle of Vliet St.

TMJ4 acquired the bodycam video of the Columbus officers from MPD.

Two knives were recovered from the scene, according to MPD.

I counted five seconds between officers realizing a person had knives and that person dying. Multiple officers shouted over each other as they ran, no one giving clear instructions. The video doesn't show the man "charging" anywhere until the herd of cops charges at him. It is legal to open carry knives in Ohio.

Which are all good points of discussion, but still paint a very different picture of what happened than your initial comment which made no mention of the knives or surveillance footage, instead focusing solely on supposed witnesses talking to reporters. It suggests that you're trying to drive a specific narrative rather than find the truth.

You can see for yourself what happened, from two angles. Two witnesses saw what happened. A bunch of cops got scared and killed someone. Of course they are going to craft a narrative that makes them heroes. Their BS doesn't deserve any air time. Are eye witnesses less reliable than cops who are reliably liars, even when their asses aren't on the line?

we had a patron in the shop just today ranting about how only Trump is out for America and how he is willing to give up his life for his fellow Americans, how he gave his wealth to this cause, and just basically MAGAing it up to the max

sad times to be an American

Yeah, conference goers of any type have lost the plot on real citizen life IMO. I understand that they need to happen but the non-substantive pageantry and zealotry is wild. Maybe I'm judgemental but I don't get it.
