I don't understand Polish though, so I didn't understand how this is "PZPR Propaganda".

Googling its lyrics, there's not as much as a peep about LGBT.

So idk why even put LGBT imagery over it lmfao.

Did the PZPR/Polish Peoples Republic say LGBT Rights back in its day or something?

I thought the GDR was the first to do that.

LGBT was not really talked publicly in socialist Poland, and it was never criminalised too. Typical "the state don't care what you do under your sheets" (except they did care about poplation growth and at some point there was even special "bykowe" tax for unmarried or childless males which of course hit the gays too).

Poland under socialism was about as homophobic as expected under its conditions, and thus the party was too.

This thing is either rightwing propaganda about "commies are degenerates" or part of the trend on the left of making known symbols in LGBT colours.

EDIT: the text is "ironic" anticommunism, making "fun" of supposed party propaganda, and also nothing in the text is anything about LGBT. Typical liberal take.

It would be freaking good if changed the text though.

EDIT 2, i just found an official video and decided to like it anyway, lol, they might not have the correct books but they do have the good style.

also looking at the video, ...yeah i'm convinced this is just reich-wing propaganda calling to fight against "lgbt communist feminist islamist degeneracy", because the flagbearers held a lgbt pzpr flag, a black flag with a venus symbol and an islamist flag (green colored and has emblem commonly seen in ~~militant~~ islamist political parties - swords, arabic letters and even a crescent+star).

idk why they felt the need to make this. your average polish person seems to already be aware of this and are very eager to "fight back".

Though that was the same rationale as outlawing abortion in USSR, to replenish war losses. That tax was in effect for both men and women between 1946-1956, and then only for men till 1973.

Yes, adopted children got no different treatment in law. Though socially of course the stigma of "orphanage" did existed. Though also in context of the tax, directly after war there were great numbers of orphans, and the adoption procedures were... not a priority, basically if you took a kid then, they were yours and were registered as such.

About LGBT adopting children, legally it wasn't mentioned at all, but after post war period some basic controls were in place to ensure the wellbeing of adopted children so of course they would seek for the "normal family" stereotype. I doubt two gays or lesbians could adopt, same with unmarried people or the ones in unregistered relationships. I guess adoption within family was easier, if you adopt the child related to you it's much easier even now.

Exactly, though most of them are sincere in being pro LGBT, they just don't have any other framework than liberal for that.

I looked for those guys in video, Jerek Jemowit is well known queer advocate in Poland and Germany, Medhat Aldaabal is Syrian professional dancer and choreographer often metioning traditional Arab and muslim terms in his work, Leman Sevda Darıcıoğlu is a Turk also active in german queer circles, Anna Deborah Disse is feminist, flag creator Nidal Jalouk works for Jewish Museum in Berlin.

So it anything this seems to be pro LGBT and not even that much antisocialist, again just typical polish liberal framework (light irony like this counts as being far from enough anticommunism for polish media standard, where unrelated mentions of "crimes of communism" is a must everywhere).

That's unfortunately true, it is much worse than in PRL, back then it was just social conservatism of backward religious society in process of slow reform, and now the religion strike back hard and LGBT are the premier target, it's full blown equality counterreformation here.

I never thought someone would put the Progress Flag, a seemingly Feminist flag and an Islamist flag in the same room without some form of (reich-wing) irony, satire or mockery; given how one of them (most of the time) wants to destroy the other two. Idk, I haven't come across any Islamist party or Islamists that genuinely advocates for LGBT and Womens' Rights.

It's always us LGBT folk, isn't it? 😒 Doubly funny given that most Poles aren't even Orthodox but Catholic; and the current pope didn't show any hostility (if not giving indirect supportive statements) towards us LGBT people. But then again I heard rumors that the Poles prefer the pope before the current pope (so Pope Benedict).

First two answers are basically in various degree of relevancy: socially conservative countries being recently absolutely destroyed by nazis. And yes, in 70's WW2 were still counted as totally "recently", hell even in 80's the trauma was still severe on societal level, only 90's overwritten that in a large degree with a new one. Also 1956 is when the nationalists took power in PRL. Btw, abortion in PRL was legal even during that tax time. In USSR abortion was legalised in 1920, then delegalised in 1933 and legalised again in 1955.

It was never something really very significant, especially that PRL did a lot of good in that respect, but again, conservative catholic society, plus children and old devouts can be very cruel.

Polish catholicism is about at the same level than the worst orthodoxy about the LGBT. About the pope saying this or that, you would better take the bible quote "you will know them by their fruits", and observe rather the hierarchy than the pope, and you would quickly see that whatever current pope speaks is just hot air. And polish church is currently basically independent from Rome anyway, if pope tried to use his power to significantly change the course of polish church (and for that he would have to purge most if not all of entire hierarchy even as low as parishes) they would just do a schism.

No, they tolerated Benedict because he was the toadie of John Paul 2. Current pope is being mostly ignored. JP2 was THE pope of Poland, and while he too didn't had much of hard power here, but ton of soft because he was the product and integral part of that entire rotten hierarchy, and he did purged Vatican from any semblance of progressivism to install Opus Dei members everywhere.

The conflict was brewing since the beginning, but when Stalin lived, Bierut had support to do what's necessary, he couldn't just purge everyone, there was way too much unprincipled ML in the party and government. but after Stalin death and Bierut becoming less active because his health deteriorated the bar swinged to the opposite side. Ultimately it happened right after the infamous Khrushchev speech, Bierut died in Moscow right after (possibly murdered, though not necessarily, for example Kim Il Sung was in identical situation but he got back alive and purged the revisionists in DPRK). After Bierut death the gradual purge happened against his followers and the nationalist faction with Władysław Gomułka took the power (Gomułka was housearrested for "rightwing-nationalist deviation" previously). Even Khrushchev was somewhat troubled with that so he came to Poland to talk some compromise with new government and while he managed to do it, the transcript of the talk is something to behold, Gomułka veiled threatened Khrushchev for concessions.

By then the revisionism was not obvious, outwardly everyhthing looked ok but bureocratisation of party and state followed and the next turn in 1970 brought titoists to power.

That too, but mainly because legitimacy of 1000 years of catholicism in Poland and so on. As Machiavelli said, being established eases up maintaining the power. Schism now could uncover some very unpleasant for church facts, like how much people really care.

Compared to earlier church. John XXIII initiated some reforms and thus was progressive for example compared to hitler's pope Pius XII. Or John Paul I who was pretty radical for a bishop though we do not know if he would be just like the "Hot Air" Francis since he was most likely murdered soon after election.
