Billboards will go up in seven swing states as campaign seeks to publicize manifesto and tie it to ex-president

Democrats will put up billboards in swing states that show Donald Trump and tie him to Project 2025, a conservative manifesto that could become reality if he wins in November.

The Democratic National Committee’s paid media campaign escalates liberal efforts to publicize Project 2025 and tie it to the former president after he sought to distance himself from the plan. The blueprint for a second Trump administration is led by the rightwing thinktank the Heritage Foundation and counts support from more than 100 other conservative groups.

According to a plan first shared with the Guardian, 36 billboards in both English and Spanish will go up in nine cities in seven battleground states: Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Raleigh and Charlotte. They show Trump’s face alongside language such as “Trump’s plan to be a dictator on day 1: Project 2025. Google it” and say that the project “guts checks and balances, seeks revenge and bans abortion nationwide”.

Voting for Trump is voting for a system that enables Project 2025.

Everyone focuses on the man, however, it's also a vote for his appointees and staffers.

In his first term he bragged at how many of the heritage foundation policies he got pushed through.

No matter how much the orange man pretends to distance himself from it, one detail will always be true: Democrats and liberals will never support Project 25. So the only way Project 25 has any viability is with a conservative in the White House.

So, Comb-over Donnie, tell me again how you have nothing to do with it? It won't happen without you!

I'm glad people are actually reading it. Or at least googling it and seeing what it's all about. I read that shit back when it first came out and have been trying to get people I know to read it too. Especially to my republican friends that care about the kinda stuff that's in that dumpster fire.

my republican friends

Your what now?

My friends that are republican. They even voted for Trump. We just don't talk about politics too much these days. At least until recently with this whole "Project 2025" because we both agree it's fucking ridiculous.

I don't think I could stomach being friends with fascists (even the ones who might not be aware that they're fascists).

I get your point. But at the same time the first step to convincing someone of your own opinions isn't to be an asshole. I've known these people since long before Trump was even campaigning for the first time. Is he wrong and kind of an asshole? Yes he is. He used to make fun of me for wearing masks during the pandemic. But at the end of the day we still bullshit and play online video games together all the time and go camping every year.

I'm not going to be able to change anybody's opinion by insulting them and making them feel stupid. I'm going to treat them like people. Misguided people, but still people.
