sad there's no visions of mana community here but i haven't put it down since i got it on thursday. it runs great on the steamdeck :)

Dome keeper. It's a really fantastic game.
- Bloons TD 6: this plays great on the deck, especially with the touchscreen
- Euro Truck Simulator 2: mostly just got it as it was super cheap and I saw some of my friends already have it
- Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy: looked super fun when I saw my friends play, but I don't really like the controls on the deck
For anyone looking for some other nice games for the deck, I can heavily recommend:
- Stray
- Dave The Diver
- Celeste
Stray
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Disco Elysium
Dark Souls Remastered (don't think it was even on sale, but I have never played a souls game and was told this was a good place to start)
Basically a bunch of big hits that I never got around to. I'm starting with Stray, it's relaxing and fun. I played a little Dark Souls, but I need to come back to that when I have more time to focus.
I was also looking at Death must Die. I played the shit out of Vampire Survivors, and I've heard DMD is more of the same.
Last big StamDeck game for me was Hades 2. Loved the original and 2 was just as fun. I know it's not fully complete, but I unlocked everything available and upgraded most of the gear all the way. I can't wait for the full release.
Bought several to share through Family Beta, but the two for me were Bravely Default II and Catlateral Damage. Played the first two Bravely games on the DS, and the other game I got just looks like fun.
As for what I'm playing? Backlog 😅 When I'm in the mood for story rich I'm playing Death Stranding. When I'm in the mood for just something fun I'm playing Peglin.
i've only bought one right before the steam sale but i have a bunch i'm considering later this week with payday. :)
before the steam sale i got secret of mana and i've been enjoying it so much (as someone who played the og so much at my friends house growing up)
i'm also considering final fantasy 13, final fantasy 12, two point campus/hospital, trials of mana, MAYBE jedi fallen order but it is an ea game so eehhh, fable, and tbh i'm thinking about the south park suite of games just for a dumb, stupid mindless steam deck game :)
it's also not steam deck compatible but i'm also thinking about pro wrestling sim since i loved tew.
Started playing #BLUD, I'm only about ten minutes in because sleep got the better of me last night but it looks pretty good so far.
Backpack Battles. It's an inventory management based auto-battler. Chill game and I like spatial puzzle a lot.
The game uses the Godot engine and it runs great on the deck. The UI is very smooth and thoughtfully designed.
A neat thing about the battle system is that it's fully asynchronous. No matchmaking delay and it even works offline. I believe it works by preloading a number of opponent-builds at the beginning of the run.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Logged in at least 21 hours in it. It's also at that price point where you feel indifferent if you don't like it.
I picked this up about 2 months ago. Took me about 100 hours before I could put it down.
I got an OLED the other day and splurged hard during the summer sale.
I got Stray and Little Kitty, Big City to show off to my cat-loving GF, and for me I got Dave the Diver, Sifu, and Babu is You. Also picked up Hollow Knight for good measure, but have yet to start it. 9 Sols, Mullet Madjack, Warhammer Boltgun, Baldurs Gate 3, and Return of the Obra Dinn all on my wishlist.
Psychonauts 2. Was a huge fan of the original on PS2 and I can't believe it's taken me years to try the sequel. The animation, level design, and writing are all at the level of quality and creativity that I wanted to see videogames progress to some day when I was a kid. This is a playable DreamWorks film.
Fallout 76. Got hooked after watching the show and went through the previous 3d games back to back. Also bought Undertale but haven't fully committed to that one yet.
Balatro and Balatro. It's so good
Completed my first run today!
Bought Everspace 2 (but on GOG) and so far it's playing great, even though power consumption is still quite high. But it's great for a session of about 1-2 hours, which I am fine with. Otherwise still playing wandering Village from the last sale and a bit of LotR RtM.
Bought Dicey Dungeons as a good one to play on Deck. I can run it with the TDP on the GPU set to 3w, which increases the battery lifespan impressively, while still running great! Plus the game itself lends itself well to the deck I'd say.
Great game, I've now bought it on 3 different platforms which is rare for me.
King Hearts Final Mix (the entire collection)
It Takes Two
V Rising
I had some friends who were huge into Kingdom Hearts growing up, so I'm kinda curious about playing it now that it's on Steam. However the numbering of the series makes it really unclear what games I need to play to experience the core story.

The release order does the best job of revealing information in an entertaining way. You can safely just watch cut scenes for the non numbers games (1.5, 2.5 and 3 are mainline most important)
For me playing through is a big nostalgia trip. The writing isn't great and the gameplay in Chain of Memories is extremely annoying for the first few hours but I am happy to be able to go hang with all of the Disney characters I did when I was a kid and I finally get to play KH3!!!
I bought FH4 since they announced it'll be delisted by the end of the year. I've previously played it a lot via gamepass, but despite the fact that it doesn't have Cross-Progression with the Steam version I still bought it on Steam so I could play it on Steam deck. Medium settings run at 60fps!
Other than that my backlog is big enough that I will abstain from the sale. Recently finished The Werecleaner (short and funny free game) and Black Mesa. Now playing CrossCode, FEZ and Nightmare Kart.
FH4?
Forza Horizon 4 - I had to search to the acronym
Ah, thanks
Playing FH4 too, trying to get all the playlist related achievements before it's too late 😋
One thing I've noticed is that you can't be signed in from two places, so if you decide to play on desktop after playing on the deck, you need to sign in again...
After letting them pass many times (well, one of them, the other's more recent), this time i said "Meh, let's do it this time" and got Untitled Goose Game and Little Kitty, Big City. Both got me hooked immediately, did all the achievements for the kitty and nearly all for the goose (there's some for speedrunning, and I'm not really into doing that, so likely those achievements are gonna stay undone forever). Both were fun and would recommend them.
How have I not heard of this game? It looks awesome.
I picked this up last month, and it's a blast.
I bought Baldur's Gate 3, Deep Rock Galactic and Undertale.
Right now, I am trying to get into Mass Effect 3, but I think I need a little break from it after completing ME2.
The new season of DRG has suckered me back in, and some more of my friends just bought it as well. I hope you have a good time with it, it's possibly my favorite game of all time.
In my opinion Deep Rock Galactic is easily the best co-op shooter of all time, hands down.
Yes LFD 2 and Helldivers 2 are great, and if your preference is for those games or warhammer Vermintide or whatever, fair enough, but I think from a game mechanics standpoint Deep Rock Galactic is a nearly flawless game. The guns all feel chunky and great, the verticality is SUPERB, the movement mechanics for the scout class have a ridiculously high skill ceiling, the tunneling mechanics are mindblowing just by themselves in the way they deepend combat and tactics, the ambiance is KILLER especially given the relatively simple but still attractive graphics, the Devs are super chill and release cosmetic DLCs so everyone can get new content... the list just goes on and on
I don't think people are ever going to get sick of it, I am confident you are always going to be able to find co-op lobbies to hop onto far into the future.
I agree. I think the way that different terrain changes combat is key, and when combined with the players ability to shape terrain (especially with the driller or engi) has created a system that can constantly feel fresh for combat.
I've put a lot of hours into different coop shooters, but DRG is my most played steam game (675 hours) and still feels fresh.
Right, people talk about "verticality" as such an important aspect of making gameplay varied and deep in a shooter (outside the realm of realistic shooters, different kettle of fish).
In DRG it isnt just about verticality, it is about surface area, about almost tower defense like thinking in shaping enemy pathing over cave walls, and the best part is if a particular situation doesn't have verticality, as you said you can just modify the enviroment yourself and bring verticality into play with the tools the game provides you.
From a shooter game design standpoint, DRG is a masterclass in focusing on what really matters for making a shooter fun and interesting to play even after 600+ hours.
I bought The Falconeer yesterday, haven't played it yet, I'm looking at my wishlist and considering more options
Consider refunding and grabbing it for free from epic in a few days? Granted that would require you to tinker with the deck a bit to install from the other stores besides steam, if you’re up for it
Oh that's a good tip, thanks!
So far just Juno: New Origins
I've been mostly playing:
- Noita
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Oxygen Not Included
Will pick up Juno when I get a chance to play when I'm not dead tired.
Deep Rock Galactic
Since a few people already mentioned it in this thread, are you playing it on Deck? It's one of the main games I play with a few buddies regularly but I always found it to be a bit cumbersome on a handheld but maybe that's because I generally dislike fps with a controller (even if using gyro).
Make sure to bind jump, grapple and other important movement buttons to rear buttons so you dont have to take your thumbs off the joysticks to use them (think bumper jumper control scheme from halo).
I am perfectly comfortable playing multiplayer competitive shooters with joysticks and gyro, fine aim control is a breeze with gyro for me and really the disadvantage playing on the deck is a framerate and screen size issue, otherwise i can be competitive even in a game like Xonotic (possibly the most fast paced, aim heavy shooter period) with joysticks+gyro.
I play battlebit, operation harsh doorstop, xonotic, halo infinite (with autoaim off), polygon, dayz deathmatch servers, easy red 2... etc and my aim is fine. Hipfire is a blast with gyro, actually just aiming in general is a blast with gyro and joysticks. Also in shooters with vehicles, using a controller to fly helicopters, planes and even just drive trucks and tanks absolutely CRUSHES mouse and keyboard, it isnt even close how I can fly circles around a mouse and keyboard player in a fighter plane in Easy Red 2. They just can't manuever in the slight barrel rolls and smooth rotations that you can pull off in your sleep with a gamepad. Also if the vehicle has a non-binary throttle and brake gamepads just have a systematic advantage that mouse and keyboard can never truly compete with in that area. Of course most shooters are designed for mouse and keyboard so they don't shrugs.
I grew up playing halo 1-3 and cod4 type games on xbox, so I am very comfortable with playing shooters with a gamepad, and gyro is a dream come true because it eliminates the extremely frustrating issue of fine aim control with joysticks. So for me, I have already put in years and years getting familiar with playing fast paced shooters with controllers/gamepads, similarly I bet you have put in years and years getting familiar with mouse and keyboard!
I say all of this not to say you are wrong, maybe joysticks+gyro isn't your thing and that is fine, but it is a comfort and preference barrier limiting you here, not an inherent limitation to joysticks+gyro.
Agreed. I experimented heavily with different control options and had special configs for all classes and even for some weapon sets. Some things were really good, others remained combersome. Also used the steam controller.
In toughest lvl 5 moments, no tweaking was enough. It was "OK" if you were on the road and with shitload of practice it might have been great.
In the end, I've done most of my playing with Dock + keyb + trackball + external display.
