Mmm, productivity

My good next door neighbour is having work done on his house today. Asked me if the tradies can use my driveway to park and set up. I agreed. He just dropped a case of Coronas at my house as a thank you.

At least I'll have something to give to guests now :)

Or you could ask a favour from someone and thank them with a slab of Coronas.

My cat has engaged Velcro Kitty mode. He's been a bit standoffish this week, so I guess we're overcorrecting by demanding affection. Its a tad annoying when your trying to work, but I'll take Velcro over Speed Kitty any day of the week.

The delivery driver is a gosh darn legend. He rang me to ask if he could leave the bike instead of taking it back to the depot.

Tassie truly is a different world. Took me a week after getting back to stop saying G'day to everyone, cause they all looked at me like I was crazy.

Not even remotely embarrassed to say I bought an ungodly amount of soap because it was on sale and the scent is a limited run. It just smells so fkn good, and the little bits in it that make it abrasive are doing wonders for my chest eczema.

Work from home day. I have been a good little health trooper this week but I am going to shout myself some junk food for lunch....pizza, loaded fries or nachoes????

I decided to go with nachos because I needed some groceries so I caved and did a Woolies order including stuff to do home nachos.

Will definitely get/make pizza this weekend tho

4 weeks of rest now, I should start moving around again. Still sore tho but not in agony.

Meeting in a cafe. It's rather nice to do my meetings this way

Copped a slight black eye and multiple body bruises at training last night. Also got the beginnings of cauliflower ear. Getting it drained today, so hopefully it doesn't fully form.

Postie has the hump now the ombudsman and auspost are making him do his job and keeps repeatly ringing the doorbell until we answer and snidely handing us every single package regardless of whether or not it needs a signature. For some reason he seems to think this is vengance.

Bless the little idiot.

This result sparks joy. I wish I could receive parcels like this.

Don't understand how they make their job so hard.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Going to each door, ringing doorbells and waiting up to a minute for every parcel takes time. They can get through their route an hour quicker if they skip that and just leave the cards.

In ye olden days, over half of the houses had nobody home during the day anyway. The good posties learned which houses these were and pre filled out the cards. That saved loads of time. It eventually evolved into just about everyone getting a card.

These days, a lot of people work from home and actually want their deliveries. That's eating into the posties' previously saved hour. Some of them seem to resent it.

It's because it's not hard and they feel entitled to it being even easier. My years in public service have taught me that, essentially guaranteed employment for people with few transferable skills, leads them to think they should be doing even less.

In this case, emotional maturity of a hamster i'm guessing. He can't go the ol' yeet route 'cos of the cameras.

The last earthquake I felt actually fixed the shower screen door that used to stick. Nature's own handy man.

I'm a bit invested in the missing woman in Ballarat, Samantha.

ramble, spoilered in case of triggersI keep reading the news story and wondering what could have happened. Like, did she fall into a ditch and the tall grass is hiding her? Was she attacked and/abducted?

It's just so strange. I really hope she is okay somehow, but being a bit of a true crime enthusiast it's hard to think that she is alive after 6 days. It doesn't make sense.

Sorry for the ramble, I hope she is alive and it was something mundane like falling or fainting in. A place that is hard to see. Her poor family.

Some reddit armchair detectives are calling suicide. Trouble is with so few details available you can make almost any theory sound convincing with a bit of conviction. With any luck she's just run off with someone she met online, she's reinvented herself, she now goes by becky and she's a barista over in Bali or some shit.

People go missing in the bush all the time. Some are found and some are not. This is given me Alison Baden-clay vibes.

My bike is meant to come today, of course they won't leave it and I walked to work so I can't meet them at home so I won't be getting it today. I am miffed.

Today there will be mandatory fun. Woo…

lunar new year? it is customary that your boss should give you an envelope of cash

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

That would be nice. Last day of conference, we are supposed to be best buddies now.

Coffee was very much necessary to get things going today. Felt like I was trying to climb a hill in 5th gear at 20km/h.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

I was up. Then I fell up the stairs and bashed my shin against the sharp hard concrete and now I am regretting my life choices (i.e. getting up). :-(
