What does everyone carry while out and about on a normal day?

For me, the standard keys, phone, wallet... and a 20k power bank, charging cables, tissues, mints, and a couple of items for my wife.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Phone and keys mainly, a Myki card and headphones if Iโ€™m using PT. If Iโ€™ve got a shoulder bag with me, might have my wallet, gum, tissues, a snack.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Keys, phone, calico bag, mask, meds, lip balm!!!, work pass, purse, powder, loops, emergency sew kit, nail file, chewing gum.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

Phone, keys and a go-get'em attitude usually

Flying to Melbourne this morning, boy are my arms going to be tired.

Going to see my favourite comedian who was originally not coming to Brisbane... But then all of about 48 hours after we committed to tickets and accommodation in Melbourne announced Brisbane dates too. Funny joke, this is why he's my favourite comedian.

Jokes on him though - I'm still going to go to Melbourne and get me a parmi, and then I'm going to see him in Brisbane too. Now who's laughing? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Last Parma I had was at The Standard in Fitzroy and it sucked. Try the Union Club or The Napier, also in Fitzroy.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago (3 children)

a parmi

Get thee to the outer darkness, you heathen. In this town it's a 'parma' and collectively we will all die on this hill.

I'm sorry, I don't speak the local dialect. It's a, how you say, chicken breast with crumbs? Or as the French say - le parmi. And chips on top. Always on top, or the side. Never under.

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

You will learn or go hungry. A schnitzel with tomato sauce, ham and grilled cheese on top, chips on the side and an excuse of a salad - this is the glory of a parma.

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I hate it when they put it on top of the chips, like wth

Knock off oodie update. Washed it. Gave it two spins and popped it on the rack in front of the heater yesterday. No need to spin dry - it's basically dry this morning. The cuffs are a bit damp but I'm just gonna roll them.

This has been your PSA from snuggled land ...

Call me a conspiracy theorist but

They totally did this to us too, right? The anti vaxxers were waving those american flags/trump flags for a reason? Urgh.

HEAVY FOG careful erryone :)

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

Could barely see 200m ahead during this morning's 6am.

Trip was otherwise uneventful. At least 2 people on their phones whilst in motion, and one without headlights.

The sky is so beautiful, sunrise and most the stars are still showing.

I was wondering if there was a function for threads to be bumped back up to the top when posted in? Just so it's easy to see active threads, there isn't a lot of duplicates, and similar stuff is more easily consolidated into one thread. (ie. Cheap eats)

No worries if not - I don't know how much work implementing that would be or if there's even the option on Lemmy.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'm not sure if it is. Activity will bump threads when the person looking is sorting by active, but I don't think there's a way to bump them otherwise.

People are talking like it's so cold I'm thinking like I should dress as I did when I lived in Detroit where the weather would be -10C for days and days on end. Warm hat under hood, feather knee long puffer, scarf, double layer gloves, knee high socks and snow boots. Jumper, pants and thermals.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

For some reason, I feel that -10ยฐC in Europe was a noticeably more pleasant than anything <10ยฐC anywhere in Australia.

That was based on using very similar set of clothes, and measurement taken outdoors.

On another note, during the daily 6am drives in the recent 2 weeks, I would feel like I'm burning up while my wife is still shivering in the passenger seat while I got the heater on.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Don't know how it's Saturday already... Anyways, has anybody noticed that the air quality has gone to shit the past day or so? I swear there's smoke or something, can't open the windows as the air hurts my throat. Seems to be happening quite a bit the past few months every couple of days. Planned burns?

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

My asthma has been hell lately so you definitely aren't alone

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Air quality is 90 at the moment. That's not really bad for most people, but can be triggering for people with allergies or similar. For context, it was about 160 or so in melb during the 2019/20 bushfires, it's currently 230 in new Dehli, but it's 8 in Newcastle and 33 in Sydney

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

For me it really depends on what the particulate matter is comprised of. I'm very sensitive to some things as I can have issues breathing when PM2.5 is around 5 ฮผg/mยณ depending on what's causing it

[โ€“] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I'm feeling about 90% better now. Still have an occasional cough, but a Strepsil fixes it. I think I'm gonna go ahead with my idea for dinner and a movie tonight. The only movie that seemed appealing was the bad boys movie. I think it's a sequel, but I've never seen whatever the original version is. Oh well. I'm sure I'll figure out what's happening. And indian for dinner. The only time I've had indian food from a restaurant I got food poisoning, but I do like a good curry (even if my spice tolerance is basically a Dorito) and this place is a little less dodgy, so I'm sure I'll be right

Edit: oh, on further thoughts, I won't get back until after the buses in my area finish up for the night. Rip. Guess it'll have to be a taxi home. Oh well

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Glad you're feeling better and had a night out ๐Ÿ™‚
