Many Lemmy instances have "feddit" in their name. Is that just "federated reddit" or am I missing something?

I've always read it as a mix of "Federated Reddit" and "Fed up with Reddit".

Yup! It's just a joke referencing reddit, that's all there is to it as far as I know.
