BRACE YOURSELF, NSFW MODS ARE COMING!!!
That's literally the majority of the existing mods today
I'm sure the "every character gets a giant dick" mod will be amongst the first.
That’s already a mod. I think it was even one of the first mods available.
It's time to find out once again that everybody so creative
And that there's plenty of people perfectly willing to create cool stuff without any expectation of making money from it but just because they like creating and sharing their creations for others to enjoy.
Communism is human nature
Baldurs gate 1 and 2 remade mod when?
I'd wanna recreate Bioware's Neverwinter Nights in BG3. 😍
I know it's not the same as a remake in the BG3 engine, but Enhanced editions of Both exist and the latter seems to be on sale right now!
I know and extensively played them :) great versions!
Holy shit, please let this happen.
But why? The original ones are perfectly fine
They are, but, even as someone who really enjoyed playing them without any nostalgia for them, I would have liked them all the more with a better combat system that is properly turn based and three-dimensional as the one in BG3 is.
I know for a fact that there is a sizeable portion of players that don't think that BG3 is strictly or at all better, but at the same time, a lot of people can't get into BG1 because they really don't enjoy its combat.
I'd absolutely adore a mod that gives us the BG1 story in BG3 and I think it would really boost accessibility. It would also be an enormous amount of effort to represent it well, especially in a way that tries to capture it in a recognizable form.
Cause I like the combat mechanics in BG3 (or rather DnD5e) more.
I recently (2020) played BG1 and 2 with their expansions and on the one hand you're right... But on the other getting the same story with 10x the graphics and some modern QoL would be great. Reaching BG3's massive audience - that isn't all 90s nostalgia gamers - with a story that's new-to-them would really help cement it in the same way BG2 did for BG1.
Oh man we gotta wait until September
People modding now this is just the official support (which will likely be a lot better but still you can tinker if you want to currently!)
Your wildest dreams... Unless those dreams involve editing or creating maps apparently.
It's just been hinted at vaguely and there's nothing saying it's not still coming, to my knowledge. Just be patient.
They explicitly call out in the mod tools announcement on Steam that level editing will NOT be supported.
For cross-platform support, direct level editing and changes to core game elements (like story, cinematics, dialogues, quests, and local gameplay adjustments) can’t be facilitated due to technical constraints and platform-specific guidelines.
Editing and changes no, creating new maybe? But likely WoC blocks this because they can't have players make up their own stories, that's against the spirit of role playing games (jkjk, shareholder interests).
According the the post it seems to be a technical limitation with allowing the modding support to be cross-platform
Most likely due to tight memory constraints on consoles. Can't have people making maps that work fine on PC but cause lag on consoles. That would make the console look weak, and Microsoft / Sony can't have that!
Am I greatly misunderstanding this, but it seems like they are saying cross platform won't support level editing but you may still be able to do it but it will just disable cross platform play? At least that's really what I hope it means, seems kinda vague.
It's possible to read it that way. I hope you are right.
That was my read too. It seemed too nonsensical to mean that they're not doing it at all because consoles can't handle it. If that's really the case, well, another thing to hold against consoles.
