No one in my team was in the office today so I had a sneaky extended lunch break to pick up my Rock Pi. I might try Home Assistant on it if there's a working image.

[โ€“] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Loads I could be doing at work but my brain Just. Doesnโ€™t. Want. To.

Felt so cranky that I even went and sat in my car in my lunchbreak so that no one could talk to me.

Pretty sure itโ€™s the weatherโ€™s fault! Might go for a swim tonight and see if that cheers me up at all.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

I feel that. Sometimes you feel like there's so much you should be doing that you do nothing. Or you end up working on the least important thing. Or you're getting things done but it doesn't feel like you're getting anything done.

Argh, supervisor has already done a very quick review of thesis. I'm way too brain dead to look at it today and take on the emotional damage - I'm going to go to bed early tonight and have another crack tomorrow morning before prepping for the preso in the afternoon. Apparently I still do need to add more references and beef up the discussion but I also kind of don't wannaaaaaa. I'm so done with reading dense academic articles about stuff I don't really care that much about...

I don't want to cook. Venturing into the wet ... in my Purple Wooly Cape!

just a heads up for those into That Sort of Thing: Bunnings are tossing out the TPlink p100 and P150 smart sockets for 16 each, and yes they are fully compatible with home assistant and can run offline once you've set them up.

Just don't try to find them at the moorabbins bunnings, someone already cleared them out.

cough.

I just picked up a couple of these myself. The 4 pack is $60, so a little cheaper again if you know you'll use them.

Taking my books back to the library. I may spend the afternoon reading on the sofa

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

That sounds like a perfect rainy afternoon!

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's warmed up to a barmy 8C here, beating the forecast high of 7C. Luckily I have a roaring fire and I am toasty.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

That looks lovely, enjoy!

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Fire drill! Yay paid time off work

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

drill is sad :(

[โ€“] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Between the weather and not nearly enough sleep I'm completely phoning it in today. Fuck me I don't know why they insist on cracking the window open slightly while having the reverse cycle on in the office, I get that it's stuffy but this is really defeating the purpose

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Stops the windows from fogging up.

Lattouf v ABC judgment this morning at 10:15. Unfortunately while ABC has come out of this looking terrible, I suspect they are probably right to be feeling a little less nervous at the outcome than Antoinette Lattouf.

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Wow, almost a clean sweep in her favour.

My manager is giving me the silent treatment.

Jesus christ lol

I've got a meeting with the CEO this afternoon to have a casual chat. A meeting I requested. So let's see how this plays out.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

I can't understand people like that and how they even end up as managers. Such shitty behaviour. Hope your casual chat goes well!

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

I resigned from a job yonks ago and the whole senior leadership team of the not-particularly-big org gave me the silent treatment for my whole notice period. I was pretty junior and they'd been treating me like shit, it can't have been surprising that I was leaving. Such strange people. It was very primary school.

Good luck with the meeting! And with the job hunting!

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

omg, how old are these people?

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'm gonna guess no older than 12

Actually, my 12 year old cousin has more maturity than that

So lower it to 7 or 8

I don't get how adults can be so catty.

[โ€“] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Alarm! Alarm! Nothing on Vic Emergency. No fucking clue, upsetting everybody

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

[โ€“] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah bugger, forgot my lunch in the hustle of getting the kids ready for school ๐Ÿ˜• AND missed the bus ๐Ÿ™„

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

First time ever YL left the house and then ran back in. Why. Because she forgot her glasses which she wears permanently. Literally can't see without them.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Iโ€™m so tired. Baby is still crying at night. Iโ€™ve ordered some more d mannose in the hope it might flush out her little bladder.

Ps. Thereโ€™s apparently a high tide warning for Melbourne this morning so people in places like Port Phillip or coastal might want to be careful

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

is it possible it's not physical distress, but Cat Things? Misha went nuts last night, the weather had her all hepped up and then she wandered around the house loudly voicing her dissatisfaction for a couple hours. Unfortunately she uses the same call for genuine distress, tantrums and boredom

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

No, this is extremely out of character for her, often associated with the litterbox, and has been going for at least a week or two. Sheโ€™s a very quiet stoic cat who barely ever made a squeak and now she sounds distraught.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My Pepper was especially spicy last night too. Took it out on the other cats.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Today Misha Wants To Play

considering misha usually treats everyone and everything else in the house with thinly veiled contempt and random violence, there is some confusion.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

I agree. Windy weather like drives cats crazy. It's all the movement of leaves and all the odd noises.

[โ€“] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

My plans of working next to the fireplace got nixed.

Due to unforseen circumstances I'm in a local office (that I can drive to) and two managers owe me huge favours.

At least it's warm here.

Apple turnovers are my fav apple dessert. Must be made with granny smith apples with a slight crunch. Yum.

[โ€“] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

But if you turn it over, what is on the other side?
