The trouble is that they feel entitled to attention and get offended when they don't receive it.
Yeah, many do, but some are just oblivious or have fallen trap to the right wing vision of courtship and dating

A substantial part of the problem is the social network isolation of these groups and integrated partitioning within a broader society. Lots of these people are raised in a situation where the only "acceptable" friends are those in their bubble network. This network bubble likely includes only a few individuals their age, and creates a cohabitation dynamic as the deepest form of connection. When there are no available partners in their social bubble, and they turn to other surrounding networks, their expectation is limited to cohabitation and they lack the networking skills to understand the social depth of the rest of the world. They are also in a situation where the only available "acceptable" partners require persistence, as they observe the disparity between the sexes within their network.
I'm speaking from personal experience and observation after leaving one of the most extreme of these groups. It may not be very helpful to further a divide with labels and such. Kindness and empathy go a long way towards increasing self awareness among those that fall into a middle ground.
IMO, the thing to deride is the network isolation and myths surrounding their isolationism, not the side effects. Welcoming those that are a little less socially adept can go a long way. For instance, I have no clue how to make trustworthy friends or asses a stranger's moral character without the bubble nonsense network pretense. It doesn't matter for me as I'm disabled and in social isolation as a result now. The social network isolation of the religious Right is the primary reinforcement mechanism that gives the Right all their populist influence and power. Even when a person realizes their belief system is a myth, the polarized nature of their social network prevents them from leaving. Would you leave everyone you know to try and integrate with people you don't understand and berate you just because you figured out the fiction.
