there is no to-ask-or-not,
just questions which are treated as they are.
!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.
All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.
Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.
Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.
If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.
Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.
If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

there is no to-ask-or-not,

You've asked in the right place my friend
Yes, you should ask both stupid and non-stupid questions here. Only thing, it has to be a honest question and abide by the rules... No trolling, flaming or baiting.
It's impossible to ask a stupid question here, actually. Try it!
Here, I'll do one:
******** ?
I'll bite:
Is hunter2 a strong password?
What do you type? All I see is *******
hunter2
What did you write? I only see ******
Ok, what'd I miss? I don't understand the reference.
It's a rather old reference...
Wow! Can't believe I've never seen it before, considering I've been in the internet since 1994...
Well it's a series of tubes - you might have been in a different one to bash.org (rip).
Glad I could bring this one to you :)
Welcome to the Fediverse.
You can try to ask stupid questions, but according to the title of this community you will never succeed
Yes.
Strongly acknowledge statement received.
You are supposed to ask stupid questions, but you actually can't, because there are no stupid questions.
Nonono, you are not allowed to ask stupid questions, but since there are no stupid questions, you can ask away.
Only stupid people
No! Stupid Questions!
No, Stupid, Questions!
No Stupid! Questions?
Questions. Stupid, no?
It is to be interpreted as "no questions here will be considered stupid".
Sure, there are exceptions, but most good-faith questions are OK, especially if it's something that you feel you should already know, or something you sim0ly fail to understand.
Yes
Yes, but that's why there is a sidebar.
Yes but.. the word stupid is not in the sidebar (other than the community name). I did check first! :)
The mere fact that we're answering your question provides sufficient context to clarify the group's intentions, no?
How dare you do an appropriate amount of reading of the community rules before posting.

I feel like this communith is mostly suited for asking questions about things you feel like you ought to know, because everybody seems to know it naturally.
It can range from "How do I properly clean my foreskin?" to "what is ffmpeg and why is everybody using it?", but not "Who's the current president of Turkey?" nor "How do I calculate the circumference of a sphere?"
It's noy questions that can be answered by a "simple google search", but questions that might be answered by a single google search, but only if you know what to search for.
What is foreskin, and why is everybody using it?
Most jewish men aren't
Nor most Americans (Jewish or not), for some reason.
Im just going to sit this gen out and wait for fiveskin.
Good idea, is it on the same release schedule as fivehead?
I'm just going to avoid soreskin
can range from “How do I properly clean my foreskin?” to “what is ffmpeg and why is everybody using it?”, but not “Who’s the current president of Turkey?” nor “How do I calculate the circumference of a sphere?”
I am impressed that you have four closely related questions right off the top of your head!
It implies that every question is valid and that there are no stupid questions to be asked.
