About

Archaeology or archeology[a] is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes.

Archaeology has various goals, which range from understanding culture history to reconstructing past lifeways to documenting and explaining changes in human societies through time.

The discipline involves surveying, excavation, and eventually analysis of data collected, to learn more about the past. In broad scope, archaeology relies on cross-disciplinary research. Read more...

Yeah, that is extremely upsetting. What a terrible idea

So are they going to do this the old fashion way with logs and whipped laborers, or will they just subcontract out to the Aliens?

Kind of OT, but it's funny they liken it to straightening the Tower of Pisa. The Tower's tilt was partially reversed and stabilized about 20 years ago.

Though in that case it's because it was continuing to lean further over time and they were worried it would fall over. Nothing like that is true of the pyramids.

The simile actually breaks down in the other direction because the Tower of Pisa was never straight to begin with; the top was built at a different angle from the base.

Because the base was already leaning and they had stopped construction for a war mid way through.
