This is exactly how I imagine the demographic that buys Cybertrucks.

Why not just test it with a chicken bone or a hotdog?

This is like testing a Chinese bullet proof west by shooting your buddy wearing it.

They did. You just need to read beyond the headline to discover that.

The system has a feature that if you try to unsuccesfully close it several times it applies a little more pressure each attempt assuming there's a bag or something that's pushing the door from inside. This is quite unlikely to happen in a normal scenario.

Did he use a hotdog?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

So did he use a hot dog? I still don't want to read the article.

So YouTuber Jeremy Judkins tested out whether the update actually makes the frunk safer by closing the frunk on a carrot, cucumber, banana — and eventually his finger.

That person who replied to you is a doofus

Then don't. You're free to remain as ignorant as you want.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Apparently they did, but after a failed close, it will for whatever reason close more forcefully the next time

What?!? How is that programmed?!? Someone did more work for less safety this is a typical tesla moment.

car.closeDoor();

if (car.getDoorStatus() != "closed") {

car.closeDoorHarder();

}

I'm glad I never have to deal with safety stuff for my own dev work, but this decision truly goes beyond me.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago

I do safety, but for Software. And yes this decision is absolutely beyond me and i have no idea why anyone would think this is anywhere near acceptable. This sounds like grounds to sue.

Tesla: We made the truck safer.

YouTuber: Ok, let’s test it. Ow, fuck, that hurt a lot.

Tesla: You did it wrong.

There. That's the video. Don't bother with the article that is just narrating the video.

I usually rather skim through an article than load up a video, especially because the video captions are usually terrible

Hi, based on your comment, I think we are soulmates.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Usually videos don’t include cyber truck owners in pain. Most videos are of celebrations or children spilling milk on rugs (boring) so I understand your philosophy.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago

Brilliant point. I watched the video and got to see a cybertruck owner hurting

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

I love the reaction when he went back for seconds!

[–] [email protected] 21 points 7 months ago (2 children)

How long before someone tries the penis test?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

thlammed penith in the car door, you say?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think you confused penis with tongue.

It would probably make them regret having such a hard on for Musk and Tesla.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The YouTuber started the video by closing the frunk on produce like a carrot, cucumber, and banana before the update was installed.

The frunk closed on his finger and left it shaking, with a dent, and what looked like a small cut or skin tear.

Judkins said that after the finger test, a lead cybertruck engineer at Tesla said he did the video wrong.

The engineer told him the frunk increases in pressure every single time it closes and detects resistance, Judkins said.

The YouTuber attempted to try the test again with his finger without trying other objects or his arm first but backed away every time the frunk was about to close.

Judkins said the update might make your banana safe, but fingers aren't quite in the clear.

The original article contains 505 words, the summary contains 129 words. Saved 74%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Why does it increase in pressure each time the fronker opens and closes

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

What does a human do when they try to close a door but it wont shut because there's too much stuff behind it? They apply more force.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Humans usually don't make the greatest decisions, as proven by the guy testing here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 7 months ago

They wanted it to crush a bag if it got in the way.

(I’m not joking. That’s their explanation.)
