Russell Brand, the sex pest? I guess it figures he's a Christian.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (2 children)

man, being accused of rape really messes up your reputation, no wonder I see so many men saying they're uncomfortable around women...

Can you debunk his Christianity without resorting to such cheap shots ? That would be impressive and surprising..

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

NGL, your username really lends credence to everything you post — so edgy, wow.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

everything you post

everything i post...!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Are you suggesting the four women are lying? I don't care to "debunk" anything. It's sufficient for me to know that he's a sex pest and a Christian. Like peanut butter and jelly.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Are you suggesting the four women are lying?

NO, I'm saying don't be superficial and believe what everyone says just because they said it, these are not facts yet

It's sufficient for me to know that he's a sex pest and a Christian.

Ahh, the famous personal attack fallacy stikes again, I'll gave you an example

Let's say a person named Elizabeth is a deer hunter, you see her take her rifle and go deer hunting every couple of weeks, then you say something like : she cannot possibly support gun control laws..

And that's a flawed reasoning, being a hunter is used as a negative characteristic to make a conclusion which could be very well untrue, Elizabeth could support many gun control laws while owning a rifle.

Let's go back to Russell, you're dismissing anything he says because he's "Christian and sex pest"... The problem here is that your conclusion came from a characterization that has nothing to do with arguments he made or the real stance he holds.. Which is all there in the video

UNLESS.....

you have some ... let's say aggressive opinions against christians, that you're willing to dismiss anything they say, and favor anyone who oppose them instead regardless whether their claim is true or false..

which one is it ?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

Apparently we have to prove that he's ever done anything inappropriate with women to OP.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

I never think about Russell Brand at all

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

I would've never known and have no reason to care

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I don't really think about Russell Brand, but he's a grifter so it's most likely part of some new grift he's got cooking.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Lol.. Ok... what do you think about the statements he made in the video?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

His statements appear to be a by-the-book representation of born-again mentality. In my own experience with people doing this, it's a last ditch response to, "people think I've become messed up and no longer being a decent human, so I'm doing this to prove I'm not messed up."

This is only effective as long as they make maneuvers to avoid being "messed up". The statements he made in his video can only be taken as far as his practices afterwards. Does he apologize? Does he atone? Does anything happen besides "I dunked myself in water which means Jesus and I love each other" which is only the thinnest veil of non-action that results in positive feedback from the largest body of the public I can reach with one video. What do YOU think about his statements? Are you an atheist or are you baiting?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

people doing this, it's a last ditch response to, "people think I've become messed up and no longer being a decent human, so I'm doing this to prove I'm not messed up."

to me, it seemed like a coping mechanism, like isn't it why people turn to religion in the first place, to cope..

from the largest body of the public

what do you mean?

What do YOU think about his statements?

I delayed replying to your comment so I don't influence others, but seeing the amount of negativity that's blamed on Russell Brand ( it was attributed to me really ), take a look at the other comments to see how insufficient their reasoning skills are, no wonder Russell gets to say something like : Religion is spreading...

Now to what I think: first of all, I'm not an ex-Christian, I'm an exmuslim, so I don't have experience in debunking christianity..

  1. someone said he should have started an onlyfans before converted, that's how you get the most out of it...lol

  2. He said something about Human connections are sometimes not enough, and I remember seeing a research paper that said : not believing in a higher power gives athiests stronger human bounding, like stronger relationships.. Etc..

  3. Said that Religion is spreading, especially amongst younger people, I don't know about the west so I can't comment on that, but in this part of the world, I can tell you that that statement is FALSE, atheism is spreading like wildfire, however the birth rate is high so... It evens out the numbers.. ( I guess )

  4. he seem to confuse being spiritual with being religious, I don't know about you, but I don't like it when religious people hijack words like, spirituality, believe.. etc.. there's no rule that says atheists can't be spiritual, or they don't hold any belief

  5. I'm not sure about this one, did he just do: "whataboutism" when he said look at the Ukraine Vs Russia war, is it religious or secular...

  6. said he can debunk the allegations and crimes of the church throughout history, but my question is... why do you want to be associated with this kind of movement shall we say, if you knew they don't have the best reputation? I get it gives you a sense of unity and that you're part of something bigger, but still... It feels off

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think his reasoning is entirely fabricated, and in truth he hopes it will distract suckers from his recent sexual assault allegations. Evidently he's had some success if you're posting about it, imo.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I think his reasoning is entirely fabricated

That's a fair belief, personally I think it's hard for it be for this reason, because the accusations happened months ago, why didn't he acted like this back then ? Key word for me here : Actor.... But I just don't like to assume the worst in people...

Evidently he's had some success if you're posting about it

Maybe... But I'm posting this because of the "why" in the title, it just got me interested in hearing an opinion other than my own... that's why I don't wanna debunk all the things he said...

Please don't bother tryin' to find her.

She's not there.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

You shouldn't... If you already live in a world free from religion.. Isn't it Entertaining to hear why people left or joined a cult ?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think he's a piece of shit rapist who's trying to do the "I'm a Christian" defense, just like that pedophile Milo Yiannopolous did.

Good luck with that, you rapist fuck.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (3 children)

hmmm, first take and you fell for Ad Hominem fallacy, I'm asking about his reasoning, even if he was the worst human-being to walk earth, he might have a solid reasoning, so you added nothing to the conversation, did you even watch the video ?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Ad Hominem fallacy

10/10 exquisite internet arguing

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Don't know what's that supposed to mean, but thanks anyway

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

If you breach the sarcasm, it means that few people want to have meaningful discussions with people that unironically say pseudointellectual shit like this.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

I'm beginning to understand why people use the block button.. Good day

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I told you his reasoning. His reasoning is that if he pretends to be a Christian, people will forget that he's a rapist and his career will be saved.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Ok, I will go with you there... Even though it's not what I originally asked for in this post.. ( Do you see now Why it's a fallacy? )

Can you prove he raped someone?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Why do I need to prove he raped someone? I'm not a lawyer.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

ding ding ding...you fell for another one...

  • You: He raped someone
  • Me: Prove it
  • You: It's not me who should do so...

shifting the burden of proof won't do you good in future debates, just saying

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Cool, I'm not debating you on whether or not Russell Brand is a rapist because I really don't care about your opinion when you don't even notice that I answered your question and claim I didn't.

If you want to know what people think, don't criticize them when they tell you.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You did tell me what you think, and I appreciate your honesty, but I didn't criticize you.. like on a personal level if that's what you mean.. I didn't crtisize anyone on this thread on a personal level ( yet everyone seem to take their dislike for Russell Brand on me, which is sad to see ) because I asked a question about Russell Brand's take, not Russell Brand himself... Not the person but the reasoning of that person...

I didn't say tell me what you think of Russell Brand?, instead : tell me what do you think about Russell's opinion? Two very different requests..

I just spotted a flaw in your reasoning and notified you about it, it's Ok to be flawed in your reasoning it's part of being human, and I think Russell's take is very flawed that you could see few flaws from the first watch..

I could have phrased my replies better that's for sure, but I'm asking you to leave what you think of him out of your conclusion, because this was an interesting video to watch for me, and I think it could be fun for you to debunk some of the things he said... Not debunk him.. :) ( the later is what you did, or tried to do.. )

It's been fun talking to you, hope I didn't offend you when I said "you didn't add anything to the conversation" that was pretty condescending.. If I did then I apologize..

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Actually, you said, and I quote, "what do you guys think about Russell Brand getting Baptised?"

It's right at the top of the thread.

I told you what I thought and you didn't accept it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

Actually, you said, and I quote, "what do you guys think about Russell Brand getting Baptised?" It's right at the top of the thread.

Ok, fine... But I detailed it further to specifically ask for something... But... fine.. you're correct now

and you didn't accept it.

Do you mean like I disregard it? Or considered it unimportant ?... No..not all... It does matter but that's not it's place, like on this sublemmy.. we can take it to another place.. umm.. I feel like "acceptable" is not the term.. It's just.. like I asked for milk and you gave me yoghurt kinda analogy... or sugal for salt... It's just not answer I was looking for, and I wasn't looking for any particular answer to begin with.. I just didn't want Russell Brand to be the center of the subject... but rather his belief because this is a group for atheism..

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

No they explained what they think his reasoning is.

They think he's doing it to use Christianity as a defense against his rape accusations. Regardless of what the video says.

Also fallacy fallacy there from you.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

The reason it's a clear fallacy for both of you now is, you said it yourself:

accusations

what's that have to do with his reasoning of why he converted to Christianity?

Even if it turns out he's rapist ( which it didn't yet, because the accuser doesn't exist yet, believe it or not ), it doesn't automatically make anything he says untrue..!!

just watch the video
