A sex offender is the first person in England and Wales to be convicted under a new cyber-flashing law. He has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.

The cyberflashing law makes it an offense to send unsolicited sexual images by social media, dating apps or technologies such as Bluetooth or Airdrop.

So the raison d'etre of goatse is no more I see.

That said, this is way past due.

Damn. Five years seems a bit steep. Dude could have partaken in like two American insurrections and served the same time.

He already had a past history as a sex offender and one of the victims in this case was a child.

This should be a law in every country

It feels like something that should fall under existing sexual harassment laws at least, but probably doesn't because of specific wording that requires a physical act, removing photo/video as qualifying.

Unfortunately, I don't think many jurisdictions take flashing seriously whatever the medium. It's known to be an early warning sign of much more serious sexual offending but police treat it as a bit of a laugh, boys will be boys, nothing to see here.

Dismissing indecent exposure as ‘flashing’ led to the murder of Sarah Everard

Wait Wait Wait Wait Wait Wait Wait hold on a minute, back up.

They made unsolicited dick pics a crime?

That's one of the best things I've ever heard.

England’s first convicted cyberflasher was sentenced Tuesday to 5 1/2 years in prison after sending unsolicited photos of his genitals to a teenage girl and a woman.

I think the age of the teenager may have played a pivot of role in the decision, so I wouldn't necessarily say this is going to happen to everyone who sends them.
