The rainbow flag or pride flag is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. Using a rainbow flag as a symbol of LGBT pride began in San Francisco, California, but eventually became common at LGBT rights events worldwide.

Originally devised by the artists Gilbert Baker, Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara and other activists, the design underwent several revisions after its debut in 1978, and continues to inspire variations. Although Baker's original rainbow flag had eight colors, from 1979 to the present day the most common variant consists of six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The flag is typically displayed horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as it would be in a natural rainbow.

LGBT people and allies currently use rainbow flags and many rainbow-themed items and color schemes as an outward symbol of their identity or support. There are derivations of the rainbow flag that are used to focus attention on specific causes or groups within the community (e.g. transgender people, fighting the AIDS epidemic, inclusion of LGBT people of color). In addition to the rainbow, many other flags and symbols are used to communicate specific identities within the LGBT community.

Linux Mint has me all the way fucked up, I spent like 5 hours figuring out how to boot it and couldn't get it to work. I didn't get pissed until the last 30 minutes or so though kitty-cri-screm

Glad I didn't try to fuck with Debian because I'm way outta my element lol

Noticing a really interesting phenomena online lately

β€œRage bait”

Maybe I’m just getting old, but it used to be that if someone was being purposefully obtuse/obnoxious/incorrect, you’d dismiss them as a troll and move on. Much easier

The internet really is dying. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is engagement farming from bots. I need to meet people irl despite the fact that I don’t trust most people irl because more often than not, they’re hell

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

for me the difference between trolling and rage bait is intention. A troll wants to waste your time for fun, rage bait is content that cynically uses anger to create engagement for monetization.

Skyclimb was a really fantastic step forward for skyrim se but there's actually something much better. Skyparkour. edition 2 is the latest now. faster, more responsive. it's excellent.

and i'm not exaggerating when i say this mod, or even skyclimb(which i tried out first) are absolutely transformative. the most annoyance i ever had in this fucking game were rockwalls i ought to be aable to get over requiring long trips around. now you can just clamber up. hours-saving shit

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

i posted this then died 2 minutes later because companions can't follow you up the cliffs you're able to scale, lmfao

it's still nice when you aren't relying on a team to keep you alive but my difficulty settings kind of do, esp. in dlc areas

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

i hate AI-shit i hate AI-shit i hate AI-shit

i know it's not like the cutting edge or anything but you can tell so distinctly when skyrim mods spliced original performances vs. used that fucking AI to generate the dialogue. night and day.

At a punk show Saturday which I rarely go to anymore I was catching up with a pal and he was going to school for cyber security whatever and was talking about his teacher having been in both the cia and nsa and I replied 'oh, so he's like...pure evil.' And the dude was taken aback. He had been sorta talking about the guy's big personality before bit there wasn't much indication whether this was cause he liked the guy or cause he's a character. But I guess he likes his cia/nsa computer prof and asked ehat I meant and I said 'acab applies to intelligence agencies and if anything they're worse.' And he kinda made an excuse to leave. He's never been particularly political but yknow, has been around diy punk and general leftist for a while and usually has a good head on his shoulders. I don't expect him to drop.the class and never suggested anything like that, I just kinda assumed my saying his prof was evil would be agreed with. Back in my day crust punks didn't trust the cia and nsa employees

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago

Kpop fans have more edge than that guy lmao

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A punk that doesn't think the CIA is evil? That's fucking weird man, you were def not in the wrong in that situation.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Oh I know that. I'm just like...baffled. He should know better.

A look at the horror, of the pimps of war

Their weapons whore, just who wields the missile-cock?

And even punks scream for sanctioned slaughter

Wholesale murder, suck the butcher's missile cock

I remember back in '84

When punks opposed all fucking war

A nuclear threat knocked at our door

But still, a punk was a fucking punk

You sang 'guns for the Afghan rebels'

Well now those rebels are your devils

America's ego leveled

I thought this was the fucking point

Punks wrapped up in fucking flags

I'd like to wrap you up in body bags

Take your fucking toe tags

And add them to the list of traitors

When did this patriotic pox

Start infecting our punk rock?

Cops and jocks with mohawks

Sucking on the missile cock

GOOD music. Feel free to recommend some more good punk bands, I'm always looking for more music.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

What bands along those lines do you already know or like? Or what kinda not punk do you listen to? It's a surprisingly deep and varied genre and I'm an Encyclopedia for this stuff. I'd check out that entire album by world burns to death the last song, Apparatus is something else, the rest of their stuff is kinda eh tbh. Aus-Rotten and Nausea are most people's first crust bands after the internet happened. There's just like...so many bands that a bit of a jumping off point really helps

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh man I have no idea where to start then lmao.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aus-Rotten is pretty similar so that's probably a good start

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'll make a list tomorrow. The mid 90s were full of this straight forwarder style of crust or heavier style of anarcho punk. Antiproduct and Mankind? are good similar ones. I'll post a full history lesson tomorrow

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Hell yeah I look forward to it

MikeyChaz was banned apparently, people seemed to think they were trolling but it looks they just speak English as a second language and there were misunderstandings all around, I don't know what to believe.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I think they were definitely trolling, they just knew how to toe the line to get Hexbear to treat them seriously. Likely someone who's been around this site for a while.

Edit: actually, if I was to engage in a bit of metaposting and bannable uncharitable speculation, this user posted music and inflammatory posts about gaming/other online culture stuff that this site gets worked up about just as much as old Based_Ball, DayOfDoom, the Switch boycott accounts, and others. I think it's kind of an open secret that it's probably the same user, or at least someone emulating the style. That's why they get banned for ban evasion when they cross the line. Sorry if I'm breaking kayfabe right now.

jokerfication

Looking for a job sucks, it just feels like everything is cold calling, or submitting my resume to get data scraped to sell to a mailing list.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Interviewing fucking sucks ass and recruiters should go to the gulag. Last week I was told I have a take home project to do on Wednesday. Now they’re saying there’s a live coding session - possibly a replacement for or a supplement to the take home, but it’s unclear and they’re not sure on that. I gave my availability and they fucking responded with times outside of that. I have 20 years of experience.

Very very tempted just to tell them to fuck off doomjak

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

If an interviewer asked me to do a project for them you know I'd be invoicing them a bill for my labour. I've done enough 'trials' to know those fuckers are just after free labour. Fuck that.

Lately in the programmer community, it really feels like a gigantic schism is forming between anti-ai and pro-ai people. Like each side is rapidly getting more and more extreme. Pretty cool!

I’m firmly on the β€œI’ll offload this one boring tedious task to an llm” side, slowly realizing it’s all boring tedious tasks.
