Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

she must know she's the highest priority target in the region now

very brave but very foolish

Disagree. What little they'd benefit from killing her would not be worth the media fallout. Greta Thunberg was a liberal media darling and while she's not talked about as much anymore, the media never disavowed her or anything.

Israel would certainly like to kill her but they should still be wise enough to just let her do her little media stunt.

Full armchair general, but I've never thought to call the occupation entity wise. I've had a thousand reasons to call them bloodthirsty maniacs. They certainly had no qualms about targeting journalists. It seems probable to me that they're a hammer looking at a big shiny nail.

Have they demonstrated restraint in consideration of media fallout before?

They have shown restraint, yes. As zionists like to say, "Israel could've killed everyone in Gaza already if they wanted to". They haven't done that because they try to maintain some sense of plausible deniability towards Western audiences. They can kill Palestinian journalists because nobody in the West has ever heard of them and they have scary, Arabic names. Norm Finkelstein has said that Israel always ramps up the brutality when Western media is distracted by some other story. Israel cares a great deal about what the media says, otherwise they wouldn't invite influencers on propaganda trips and wouldn't put so much pressure on media outlets to fire everyone who even slightly criticizes them.

I get that calling this "restraint" might sound ridiculous, but that is the only reason they have ever led any aid trucks into the Gaza strip or why they even bother with their evacuation notices instead of just exterminating everyone right away. They still try to maintain plausible deniability.

Yeah that's where I'm coming from. We're talking about a nazi regime at the peak of their manic blood thirst.

Uncritical support for Thunberg.

I can't possibly blame her for anything "lib" she might have said in the past. I can't imagine what it would be like growing up semi-famous with all these forces pulling in so many directions to influence her beliefs. Yet she's overcome it and is very much putting her life on the line for Palestine.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 days ago (1 children)

i think she was in track to become a lib.

that "how dare you" speech was peak lib.

she learned that they will parade her for self congratulatory geernwashing.

she could have easily become a grifter, but had conviction.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago

Yeah that's basically my thought. Started radical, got on track to be co-opted as a thing to be paraded around by companies and causes co-opted by industry. But looks like she broke out of it. Hell yeah.

Greta is just continuously getting more based as time goes on

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Didn't she have a unbased moment with Ukraine and ZelensKKKy?

[–] [email protected] 46 points 5 days ago (1 children)

One of her most unbased moments was in an interview by Mehdi Hasan where she was asked if she could force president Biden to pass any climate legislation what it would be and she went "I wouldn't. That would be undemocratic and our democracy is the most important thing we have."

[–] [email protected] 33 points 5 days ago

That feels like something I would say while turning to look at the camera so that you know I'm being sarcastic.
