Got an idea for next month's banner?
If i have the settigns right these should be the top charting NZ songs of 2023: https://nztop40.co.nz/chart/nzsingles?chart=5732
They're just tracks that topped the charts in 2023 - not necessarily released that year. For instance, the first song is from 2019, the second from 2022, the third is from 2021 etc.
Weird. It says on the page "The 20 best-selling and most-streamed New Zealand tracks released in the past 18 months."
But you're right, many don't actually appear to be released in the past 18 months.
I know just the thing!
Yahyah feat. Mohi - I Like You
(english/te reo)
Other ideas from 2023 - all of these have great videos btw:
The Black Seeds - So True/Ki a kohi (te teo version from 2023)
Stan Walker - I am
L.A.B - Cassanova
I'm a bit out of the loop since Stan Walker won Australian Idol. What's our claim to him? He seems to win award for being an Australian artist and for being a New Zealand artist ๐
Would Aussies consider the song as one they could submit?
Not sure...
So True should be our national anthem!
Here is another suggestion Minuit - Aotearoa
Cool track, seems to have been uploaded years ago though?
Oh yea it's old. But somebody suggested so true and that's also old.
It was me, it's the Te Reo Maori version which I think was released in 2023. Probably would be pushing the rules though.
Quick, somebody do a cover! Honestly though I think it's a great song when you take out the repetitions at the end.
Just edited to link to all videos so refresh your page if you can't see it.
let alone one from NZ
Dude... Tadpole, Anika Moa, the Runga twins, 8 Foot Sativa, Sinate... Yes, none of those are even from this decade but they are from NZ!
I meant I can't name an NZ song from 2023 or any song from 2023! I can see how it could be taken as not knowing any NZ at all but that's not what I meant.
It's not Pop, so probably won't get many votes, but here's my submission:
Tiki Taane, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra - Tangaroa (August 2023)
