Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color

Why is the title different?

We like to have fun here.

What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.

What are the basic rules of the community?

  1. Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

  2. This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

  3. Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.

  4. No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.

  5. Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

Had a legendary migraine all day today, with auras, echoes, and horseshit, all my emergency herbal thisthat sworn by curanderas, caffeine and like 800mg of ibuprofen all got laughed at by my wicked migraine, been wanting to throw up all shift but at least mugwort saved me there. Made work hell on fucking earth, more than usual, and I think I hallucinated a Lenin tattoo on a customer, lol. At least it's over and I made it home alive, I was scared with the way lights and shit looked otw home was a hard drive.

Went to watch tmnt mutant mayhem, quite liked it. Wished I had someone to watch it with to share my thoughts, lone watching just me there. I do feel the race stuff was alright the allegories, making them heroes by turning on the other mutant was eh. The ending was good enough and the greater scope villain still being a PMC out there.

Itโ€™s funny how people into cryptids think skinwalkers are all over the place. A Navajo elder once shared with me some of the steps needed to become one and youโ€™d have an easier time unlocking the Mangekyou Sharingan than becoming a skinwalker.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

i think people just name any monster in the woods a skinwalker mostly because its a popular name, and that in general i have notice that in northamerica many native people have they own version of the changeling in the woods cryptid story

for example mexica people in central mexico have the nahual which is also a changeling like thing but instead of being evil they are just kinda of an neutral asshole trickster

These live-action roleplaying games are getting out of control.

Might with any luck be able to share some of my vegan mexican recipes with the rest of my training class. For the most part they seemed intrigued with the foods I'm eating so might make some converts

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ngl the most effective way iโ€™ve found to make other people open to a vegan diet is just eat smacking vegan food and posting it. It was very healing when i figured out i need to stop making white people vegan food and start making ethnic vegan food

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Fr and all it is is just food I eat everyday so not much of an issue, I don't post my food enough tho since I suck as at taking photos

"America is founded by slaveowners who wanted to be free" George Carlin

replace George Carlin with Domenisco Losurdo and that's his thesis for "liberalism: a counter history"

You know that feeling in your gut you get when you feel that a white leftist performing outrage about something terrible and getting tons of positive recognition about it is totally fake, LARPing, and doesn't actually give a fuck about justice? Looking back, I had this feeling way too little on HB.

No honkies can really be exempt. Sometimes, I get in my head this feeling, "HB has many of some of the good whites!" but I realized that taking that feeling at face value just keeps setting me up for more and more growing disappointment.

Your basic white leftist himbo on Instagram talking about how much he really opposes white supremacy ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ for clout and white leftists on HB are not really significantly different levels of performative. I think that's why this site makes me depressed when I see bad cracker takes on it. I keep having too high expectations.

Seeing white people say virtue signaling bullshit on mainstream social media has always been expected for me, but my mind took far too long to connect the dots in knowing that Hexbear isn't truly different with this.

Got more of the instrumental break done... picks up from what I last posted which was the guitar solo you first hear in this clip

After this section, a bridge harmony, bass solo, one more chorus, and depending on how I feel, maybe I'd add some elaborate outro or just do some spin on the chorus that closes it out. Probably the latter as this song currently already has A LOT going for it.

It is cool when I meet the occasional white people irl who are chill, I may end up in construction work and it seems the people I've meet who worked there are ok. A lot of it is just familiarity most likely and even the ones that don't fully know Spanish aren't annoyed when they hear it. I know that a low bar but I'll take it

[โ€“] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I worked construction my first summer out of high school. A lot of misogyny, sexism, and homophobia, but surprisingly little (if any) racism. I think people felt like we were "in the shit" together and everyone was capable at their jobs.

Although looking back, I'm pretty sure we had one group of contractors connected to organized crime who were doing no show jobs lmao

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah my group I'm holding my breath on them knowing gender stuff or orientation stuff but yeah still alright

It was a pain in the ass dealing with them because we'd need to do something but only after they finished. Or they'd damage something that was just built and it would need to be fixed. They'd take like 4 hour lunches or fall asleep somewhere on the site. The rest of us were like "How the fuck did you guys even get hired, let alone form an entire company of this one type of guy?"

Liberals today in response to Trump's post on Truthsocial: Wow, maybe instead of posting a hateful rant he should honor the men and women that are sent all over the world to terrorize POC in service to empiremaybe-later-kiddo

Americans always talk about soldiers having PTSD like it's the worst thing, what do they think about literal children in the countries they invaded having PTSD?

[โ€“] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

I respect PTSD and people's trauma and people who have PTSD... unless they're AmeriKKKan soldiers, and then my stance is, their trauma isn't valid, their "PTSD" is not real and doesn't deserve treatment, fuck the troops.

[โ€“] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Reading scholarly research on PTSD is so crazy because most of it is based on studies of Yankee ~~veterans~~ war criminals whose anecdotes will be like "I got ptsd after we burned a whole village of Vietcong and then my friend bill stepped on a tiger trap and I watched him die."

I've thought about posting about it here, but I'm going to be real as much as I love this forum the energy sitewide is a little too caucasian for whats essentially "HBCU live"

Hearing the handful of white people in the crowd at the theater gasp at the first N-word being dropped in blazing saddles and then forgetting about doing that again for the subsequent ones was interesting. Hearing one of them shame on this town for so little people coming out to see this film and when I said "hell yeah this my second time watching it" because I wanted to be social and talk to people as the movie ended I just got a yeah... as they walked away.

Man it's a weird feeling when white people do this, performatively gasp at the N-word but not wanting to talk to brown people. There's only so many "I'm just super attractive and intimate people" monologues I can do after the fact when things like this happen.

racism in yakuza seriesPlaying kiwami 2 and like the main plot of the series for this one has to do with the korean mafia in the game, I remember playing the ps2 game and thinking damn they really went hard on them. I get it it's a crime game so everyone of them is in a gang to be part of this story but damn still.

I feel 4 handles immigrants better especially with the cop, once again just realizing they made the cop lady of korean descent from 2 a cop. The sense of community in that game was good for the story. I do want to go back and play it all the substories for 4 now.

Afterward I don't remember 5 having much to do with immigrants same with 6 and 7. 6 does have the return of the korean mafia and 7 kind of too but I feel there issues are more in the background.

I also can't help but mention black people in these games, usually when they have black people they're usually americans. For the most part they aren't so bad, yeah they have a terrible accent but it's par for the course with these games for all foreigners. Gary Buster Homles has a mention in my mind, I like him a lot and eventually they lean into him being more american in dead souls which I love.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Also interesting is tanimura raised in little asia due to his thai heritage in 4. Always felt he was a prototype Yagami from judgement

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've yet to play judgement tho I do have it so I think after I do go back to 4 I might check it when it fresh in my mind

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Honestly probably the best gameplay in the series. It should be the blueprint going forward imo.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Whenever I hear of judgement it more people talking about lost judgement tbh, I do look forward to both

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah and kaito fights with the ferocity that a young kiryu has. Pirates yakuza combat pretty dope too. No offense to ppl who like the turn based stuff in like a dragon the story is still good but turn based just isn't for me. I hope they do more action spin offs.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I thought the turn base was solid enough, I've still to try infinite wealth but ever all the action commands and super guards keep me engaged enough.
