I know everyone has gotten comfortable with their favorite armor set, but you might want to swap out for a generic set, or log off naked after every session until the release goes live.

This is pretty funny.

I know I can be pretty annoying with my whining about CIG but stuff like this is exactly why it happens.

There's no info when the patch will happen, the info itself is posted only on spectrum instead somewhere where everyone could find it (like in the launcher or in-game since they already used it a few times to send global messages) OR, even better, don't release a patch with such glaring problem - especially since you already have a fix apparently.

I know, I know - it's the sale patch so it can't be delayed, I just hate how marketing is the one driving patch releases. And in the "year of stability" at that...

Okay, rant over. Thanks for posting.

But also... do they not know how to do migration scripts? Is their persistence changing so drastically that they can't even translate "items equipped" to "items in storage"? WTF.

I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for skipping a seemingly small step, but I'm worried it's closer to "that won't make us money" than "it's technically difficult."

Message in the OP mentions they did manage to fix it in a future build so I don't think it's either of those explanations. I'm just curious what blocks them from merging the fix into 4.1.1 release.

I doubt there's a "fix" so much as a "we're not changing the thing again." This is a classic symptom of a poor data migration: having something that works be moved/changed and lose state but then work for the future.

I'm sure the persistence layer is much more complex than a flat database table, but it's still just item IDs and character slots.

It's already been fixed lol this message aged like milk

That's also possible, I just try not to come up with my own explanations unless there's evidence to do that. They say it's fixed and since I have no access to their codebase I have no reason to think otherwise.

I just hate how marketing is the one driving patch releases.

The hype train must keep rolling or the whales dry up. Honestly I'm... Not exactly surprised, but still taken aback the game is in such a broken state after what... 11 years of development?

I'm also not surprised, just tired of it (doubly so considering the shift towards quality of life and bug fixing).

The good thing is that their decision to focus on improvements rather than features this year did fix a lot of issues and brought significant changes to playability. It's still not where it needs to be but the game is in a better place than in the past (at least in terms of technicalities). Things might still be broken but even in its current state I've seen a lot more newbies coming out with positive experiences during the last free flight.

Uh oh, I've been taking a break but I'd better log back in and get my character ready.
