He knows his phony baloney base is supposedly Christian, right?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

This is america. Even the catholics are protestant here.

This is what they'll tell you with a straight face.

Noah was a drunk, King David killed a man so he could have the widow, and King Solomon had thousands of slaves.

The Lord can choose to work through flawed me; we must look past their character to see the holy spirit within.

Exactly why, as a small child, I couldn't understand anyone following this bullshit. They contradict themselves and then expect you to believe.

Yes, but I read someone make the point, much better than I will now, that Trump's people are Trump's people. They're not Republicans or conservatives or whatever. They will support him no matter what.

They're just sheep. Like him, they're malleable, formed by whoever was last in the room. It's very convenient for him.

american "christianity" is generally about as christian as neon genesis evangelion, it's a nationwide cult wearing a crucifix necklace like Clark Kent wears glasses.

There's historically bad blood between Catholics and Protestants in America. All the recent Pope stuff is designed to fan those flames.

Non Catholics lump the two together but Protestant America is taught young that Catholics are in the same group as Jews, Muslims, and everyone else they hate.

So this is all dog whistling.

I thought there was Protestant catholic divide and America's a proddy nation

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Speaking entirely from personal experience, this is accurate. I don't know what percentage of people in the US are Catholic, but at least where I'm at (the south) most are Protestant. I went from being raised as a church kid (Protestant, Pentecostal to be specific), to hanging out with pagans after I left the church, and with a bunch of other groups. Everyone makes fun of Catholics.

He straight up said "I'm not Christian", they don't care

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I want to believe. Video source please!

Something something God uses imperfect people, I guess.

Edit: I mean that's something I've heard of MAGAts saying. Apparently they don't care because somehow they're convinced Trump is chosen by capital-G-God an will do God's will even if he's sinful as fuck.

Has anyone asked Trump about it?

"I didn't know I could be pope? This is the first time I'm hearing it. I think it'll get in the way of..well I could be, maybe I will do it. The pope and president at the same time? Wouldn't that be beautiful? Everyone's saying it."

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

they did ask him and he said "being pope would be my first choice", you'll note how you were unable to even come up with something as nonsensical as what he actually said..

Critical support to pissing off the catholic church

Joe Biden would also be displeased.
