Obligatory straight dope. Essentially if these workers are costing more than $72.10 an hour it's not worth it.
Mildly Interesting
This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.
This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?
Just post some stuff and don't spam.
Just call all the older gentlemen like my dad and they'd be able to find all the coins in a matter of minutes. You know, the type of people who will randomly bend over to pick up a coin no matter how hidden it is or how well it blends in. Doesn't matter if they're looking up at the sky, some sort of 6th sense will go off in their head and they'll immediately find the coin and pick it up.
CGP GREY IS SEETHING RIGHT NOW
Did he have some dime video I don't remember? What is this in reference to?
Edit: it appears I have not seen any of his videos for months now
Finally the Rich have to except change and annoyingly count each peace.
what a travesty. all that money on the side of the road and the cleanup must be difficult. the world keeps on turning though, and march of dimes must have their sacrifice...
I hear the accident was avoidable, if only the truck had been able to turn on a dime.
Not endorsing child labor, but this would have been a great job for a whole bunch of kids. Just let out a few classes early, pull up in the school buses and let 50 of them compete to see who picks up the most.
I don't endorse child labor either. But really isn't that what chores are? When I was very young, my parents gave me a nickel for every specific type of rock they wanted pulled out of the landscaping before they hauled it all away
Kiddos love tasks like that I think because they don't really have a grasp of larger concepts, smaller projects are very rewarding
Imo there's a difference between "a kid having a job": your 10 year old is helping on the farm, feeding the chickens, picking apples, etc.
And "child labour": your 10 year old Is working 10 hour days sewing sneakers for Nike.
This as a one time. you pick it, you can keep it kind of deal would be awesome for the kids.
Yeah for sure, kids “work” all the time and it’s good to teach them to help and pitch in and do a job right. I give my kid chores and so on, all good. About this picking up dimes thing, the kids would love it and all tell the story about how they helped out in the funny event from then on.
Funny enough I was just reading a fantasy story with a mix of races building a city together.
Dryads talked to trees to relocate spirits.
Beavermen cut down all the trees with ease since spirits helped.
Dwarves got all the trees and made lumber / dwellings.
And the seemingly useless goblins were clearing the fields of leftovers/rocks so they had a prestine place to build dwellings.
So I pictured a horde of goblins cleaning up all the dimes at the headline.
Switching that over to children with the same energy and sounds fit hilariously.
Do you mind sharing the story? I'm trying to get back into reading more and it's easier with a recommendation than looking at thousands of titles and trying to choose one
Uhh... Its actually an adult book series. Wild Wastes read the blurb on book 1.

Spoiler for the faint hearted at the bottom of the blurb. Please read all the way through.

The video is pretty silly in how it was edited and who they talked to, worth a watch
Do they just dump dimes into a cargo container? These weren't in those little rolls or any kind of packaging?
Looks like Taggart and the rest of the hoodlums that Hedley Lamar hired will take a little longer than expected to get to Rock Ridge.
Beat me to it
Did they have Slim pickin' up the dimes, thats gonna take a toll on him.
We’re gonna need a Shitload of dimes!
Are american dimes not magnetic? A magnetic floor sweeper should have worked great there.
Nope. Copper and nickel.
“Modern dimes are made of an outer cladding of 75% copper and 25% nickel, with an inner core of pure copper. “
https://www.chroniclecollectibles.com/what-is-a-dime-made-of/
Is nickel not magnetic? I guess the outer cladding must be pretty thin.
No US coins are attracted to magnets.
Probably to prevent rust?
Also iron/steel are difficult to mold.
Except for the steel penny they made for one year.
Ah well that sucks. Canadian dimes are magnetic, I thought it may have been similar.
