Mark my words, these are the people who, five to ten years down the line, will act like no one could’ve possibly seen coming a fascist regime rising to power in Ukraine in the fallout from the war.

We are 11 years after not even fascist but straight up nazi regime was put in power in Ukraine by USA but libs consistently deny it despite even lib media warning about nazis rising in power before that.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 3 days ago

it already exists there.

Unsurprising that an ethnic cleansing enjoyer would jump to the defence of a neo-nazi.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 days ago (1 children)

one of the more hitlerite instances

[–] [email protected] 36 points 3 days ago (1 children)

One of the more Hitlerite countries to be honest, despite the fact that we're about to jerk ourselves off about the one time we were maybe, limitedly on the right side of history 80 years ago this week. ukkk

I feel like the Daily Mail being pro-Hitler until the bombs started dropping on their office is the perfect encapsulation.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 3 days ago

guaranteed the daily heil would have immediately gone pro-nazi again if operation sealion ever materialized

Its the glibness that gets me, like ok you fell for the astroturfed propaganda pretty hard and have been shilling for a nazi for the past years (without knowing? maybe?) but then to just push it all aside with the ancient 8/8 meme is just bottom of the barrel, how can they deal with that kind of cognitive dissonance?

But a feddit.nl lib just answered that question I think by just straight up accusing me of lying by omission when I come with receipts. Like yeah this guy was an organizer in the 2014 odessa fire but I'm gonna pretend theres actually some piece of info that casts this all in a different light. No I wont say what it is.

Why are fedditors like this??

[–] [email protected] 29 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The glibness is a very strong indicator that they're totally ok with that.

Right, but in their other posts they do the average reddit-tier "fascist cheeto" stuff and it seems genuine? It seems like they are a-ok with Ukrainian nazis but not with seppo nazis and I dont know how one can arrive at such a position. Like even if they hate trump only because he has been on-and-off about ukrainian peace why insult him as a fascist if you dont actually have a problem with that? They're either pretending to be against fascist (why be on lemmy then? They dont seem to be trying to push an agenda) or they're sincere in which case how do they deal with this contradiction? It's weirdly bugging me.

They're ok with the far right when the far right are being weaponised to push their agenda abroad. They just don't want it at home.

In the UK I don't think they really mind it at home either though. The "let's all get along" attitude I see and "good lad" behaviour is pervasive and shitty.

You mean in a "necessary evil since the ontologically evil russians are even worse" or maybe a "To each their own" kind of way. I can see that... I'll probably never understand it fully though.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 3 days ago

The 8/8 "meme" makes me think they're also a nazi doing "1488" with some plausible deniability.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They're actually Nazis but are vaguely aware it's not "cool" to say that

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I dont know they would self-identify as nazis even in private. I think they just bought into the propaganda for years now, think they're well informed because they've been browsing the astroturfed subreddits which is why they're so smug about it. But like the cognitive dissonance has to be a bit painful at least when confronted like this?

Or maybe you're right but then why not be more proactive with pushing propaganda, looking at their profile it really doesn't give off the vibes that they champion a cause. Unlike some other anti-china fedditors who are very very actively spreading their sinophobia for instance.

When I've seen libs respond to the assertion that Ukraine is run by nazis, the argument is usually that the nazi political parties only hold a very small number of seats in the government and are therefore a fringe group with no to negligible power. Combine this with the fact that nazi freaks can be found in every country, including (and especially) Russia, and the Kremlin's stated goal of denazifying Ukraine is disingenuous, acting to mislead potential allies of Ukraine with cunningly crafted disinformation.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I know that (I use to be one of those libs ohnoes) but this is about a specific guy they donated money to who is an organizing banderite. They can still pretend that he is part of a nazi minority in the Ukraine but not that he is not a nazi.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

Yeah 😮‍💨, the libs are more scratched than ever now.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't necessarily mean they self-identify as such. They just have 99% of the same views.

You know what they say about scratching a liberal...

Oh yeah I'm with you on that 100%
