This isn't just because people just see it on social media. It is because Murdock has a monopoly on the press. What isn't propaganda is clickbait nonsense and a good chunk of the public have noticed, even if that isn't specifically the words they would use.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I'm not Australian, but you still have some very good Australian news organizations:

  • The Sydney Morning Herald

  • The Guardian

  • Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC

  • Crikey

I believe the real issue is that people are actually attracted to clickbait nonsense.

I'm mean, it's better than newscorp, but let's not pretend like any Nine-Fairfax companies don't toe the right wing corporate line.

They are the embodiment of the teals (our socially progressive, economically right wing politicians).

The guardian which is not Australian ranks highest in my mind here. ABC is okay, but after their funding cuts under the LNP they're way less critical of the government.
