It is most likely a false-flag, because the criticisms in the document all are clearly insane, and each question makes the actual Conservative policies appear saner in comparison.
I guess it's possible that it was a Liberal plant, but it has big "man vandalizes own house" energy.
sex offenders living next to kids in jail
I'm no expert in how to run a prison, but don't they have separate ones for kids? Or is it child prisoners in the cell next to other kids who are in for sex crimes? Whatever's going on it's probably another Liberal plot.
It's Complicated? It's possible that if a teen commits an offence heinous enough to be tried as an adult, they'd also be sent to an adult prison. There won't be under-twelves in a prison of any sort, since they can't be held criminally responsible for their actions under Canadian law. Teens guilty of sex crimes certainly do get thrown in with other teen criminals (and often aren't adequately monitored and reoffend while they're on the inside).
But in this case, I think whatever idiot posted the message meant "there might be kids in houses next door to the prison". Which begs the question: how many prisons and jails are actually in residential areas? I'd bet it's uncommon, but not unknown.
There's one by us that's maybe a 10 minute walk from my house. the prison can't be seen from residential areas, and vice versa so no big deal.
Edit: it's a correction center, which is probably different then a prison.
The only prison I know of that was in an urban setting was the old Kingston penitentiary. But it's been closed since 2013.
As far as under-18s being charged as an adult, that is rare and only used for extreme cases.
Collins Bay Institution is also in Kingston, not all that far from the old Kingdom Pen. It is within a 5-10 minute walk of many houses and apartments.
