I like to be informed, however I wouldn’t call whatever happens on lemmy as information sharing but more like endless ranting. I get it it is what it is but I think it is healthier to have more than one topic

On the plus side my internet usage went down because I just do news check up daily and I lose desire to use internet further

What’s that from? I can filter on my desktop that way via Adblock origin but not on my phone.

Sometimes it yearn for the days the Harlem shake was a meme, and the Numa Numa guy, and badgers badgers badgers...

And if you really want to go even farther back to the 90s and super early 2000s internet (i am talking about pre 9/11) you had Where Are The Toons Now? And peanut butter jelly time and the Mr. T vs. (Insert random opponent here). Does anyone remember when Mr. T was an internet meme? Or even Bert is evil (a 90s meme literally stopped by 9/11).

While fun stuff obviously still exists aplenty (i actually like the skibidi stuff) I just wish we could do that again. But Trump is fucking everything up so much that I can simply cannot look away. It is everywhere.

Yeah that's fine but you don't need to tell us all about the continuous unraveling of your society.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 4 points 1 month ago

Our society.

please filter out politics. we don't want you whiney pacifists whining about not seeing enough linux memes.

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just set up some filters and you will more peace. Some will still get through but it will not feel like a deluge.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But but but what if you're a dumb dumb like me and don't know where the filters are?

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Well then you just see that content day in, day out and slowly sink into a pit of despair.

Serioulsy though, try to figure out how to filter these things. I have been a lot less sad and depressed since I did it.

Why are there so many people assuming every lemmy user is from the USA

Sometimes its bad for mental health to continuously see all the bad things that are happening in the richest country in the world

[–] Woht24@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Same as Reddit, Americans don't seem to be able to comprehend that there are other non Americans on the internet. It's crazy.

Bonus points for people saying 'here, where I'm from, not in my country', they are all from the US. Anyone who mentions where they live with zero context and assumes you understand is a yank.
