No reply unfortunately.

Has anyone ever actually joined the discord?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

iirc it's just unmoderated and racist

[–] [email protected] 62 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Honestly this shit ain't funny anymore. Whoever is behind this is reaching their objective (whatever that is, maybe de-anonimization) if they keep doing that. Also that poor girl doesn't even know her pictures are in the inbox of tens of thousands of users.

just saw the posts https://lemmy.world/post/27987975 things have gotten a lot worse

Of course she knows, she sends them herself, it's the Fediverse chick!

Poe's law strikes again

My name is Giovanni Georgio. But everybody calls me Georgio.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Crazy you realize that song came out like 12 years ago

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm convinced this is just a giant troll. Has anyone tried clicking those links in a VM or something? Is it malicious? Or just fake lol.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago

It's been reported to be real channels. A few weeks ago, the spammer asked for crypto money, but has stopped again.

[–] [email protected] 80 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

I wonder where they got all those pictures, is this some hacked camera? Or is she real but still a scammer, or what, when will someone do an investigation and a 1hour lon youtube video about it?!!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I believe that she either was frends with or dated someone and they used to have video calls. I've heard that the 'livestream' the message links into is a looping video of her, not sure if in a sexual context. So I think that the point here is revenge porn or cyberbullying.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah might be this too, if it's this I hope she's okay, bu at least it's not revenge porn as it's far from being nsfw, just revenge maybe.

One day we'll have proper answers 🙏

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I just hope that whoever is doing this gets caught, it's super creepy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

If only we had the firepower of reddit...

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago

Is that juice brand actually something available in Toronto area? That could tell us more if she's telling the truth or not

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It might even be from one of the very first few live streaming sites, where you didnt stream a video but rather your Webcam would take pictures every 2 seconds and instantly upload them to the server.

Now, with this juice box we could for the first time have some clues regardin who the girl in the photo actually is and when/where the photos/videos were talen.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

having this juice at home feels surreal

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

So based on the orange juice box it's at the very least post 2003, but I believe it's newer. I couldn't find a reliable source on when or if this rebrand happened, but I think it's the newer packaging of the juice box (look here for the newer one vs here for what I think is an old one literally just based off vibes and the fact that it showed up when I added 2013 to the search terms). You can see the difference in the way the point at the bottom of the Nicole picture is in the center of the front of the box.

I got my 2003 claim by looking at the logo and comparing it to this image listing the del monte logo rebrands. The box in the Nicole image and the newer Del Monte orange juice box has the shadow on the lettering not found pre-2003. They're both using the 2003 to present one.

So basically I determined nothing of value.

Edit: what I thought was the old packaging appears to still be sold, at least in Toronto. I haven't yet found a store in Toronto selling the packaging in the picture.

This is the kind of hard hitting investigative journalism I come to Lemmy for!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Me too, except it's Lemmy so I actually get to (kind of have to) be the investigative journalist this time

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well, it's actually a good guess! Also, as another user asked, is this brand usually sold in the Toronto area?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Seems to be. Actually, what I thought was the old packaging seems to still be sold there too. By setting my location to Toronto on Uber eats and searching for it I found it at a local convenience store.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

It's Del Monte orange juice btw.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I kind of figured it was like some sort of live-stream and they just took screenshots out of the video

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah that was my second thought, but if it's a public stream my question remains: Where?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Someday there will be a 10 hour down the rabbithole video about the fediverse chick

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I'm going to make trading cards.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

I can't wait for this.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 weeks ago

My thought was hacked web cam also

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Looks like she's ripping a dab rig, too. Hell yeah Nicole.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I know, from other images it looks like an old Dr. Dabber e-rig glass piece

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We need more trained eyes to crack this case, next we need to make a list of all vendors that sold dr dabber

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I got the matrix variant recently.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We need like a wiki page dedicated to these

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nikipedia?

(Yeah, it's Nicole, "Nicipedia" just doesn't look right though.)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

So there was a community c/nicole which is now locked due to the mod receiving a picture of a supposedly dead Nicole.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It feels like they are getting new photos more often lately. When the scam first started they used the same like two photos a lot. Now it feels like there is multiple new photos just this week.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

I'm betting it's some Webcam where you have to pay to see feet, but they never pay they just screengrab this stuff

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder if this is to circumvent automatic blocks? They started including the text in the image for similar reasons.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you have any source for any automatic blocks being implemented by anyone?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, I just remember seeing posts in Lemmy admin spaces about DB migrations used to block the text, not sure where.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I can see blocking text, but you are saying the new images are possibly to avoiding blocks. Which would require some image comparison / computer vision based detection, which I would be interested to read about if it existed.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

It was a guess. I know pictrs has some functionality for that to block CP being uploaded to Lemmy instances, maybe look at the repo, that should have some info :)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

I'm probably viewing mine after the account gets banned but the last 3 or 4 haven't had an image
