I have for years thought Verstappen was a very good driver but also very much helped by having the best car.

I'm now starting to think he might be the best F1 driver ever.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Both can be true, as well. End of 2022, all of 2023 and the first couple of races of 2024 he clearly had the best car. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that Max is an absolute demon behind the wheel, and in terms of pace and driving skill he will no doubt go down in history as one of the best of all time, probably going on to become a legendary name like Jim Clark.

I swear Verstappen is not human...

The guy sets a lap record and pulls that lap outta his ass and he doesn't even seem remotely surprised. He's happy, but he wasnt surprised lol

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He seemed a bit surprised.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Sorry I should have said he was surprised to be on pole but he didn't seem remotely surprised about the lap record lol

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

How the hell has max pulled that! That red bull looked a handful even in his hand throughout the weekend but somehow the madlad has done it

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Verstappen, what a beast. Pole by 0.012s of a second.

Top 3 within 0.044s. Wild.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago

All 3 broke the previous track record by Verstappen last year.

Ok that was definitely the most excited I've heard Max to take pole in a long time. I almost always root against him now, but he is such a driving machine.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Max knows he has earned that pole. No wonder he is happy

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

look at those gaps. wow

NowTV not showing ads today, just giving us ambient music?

That's an expensive mistake.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Quite enjoyed it. Like a small moment of meditation during the breaks.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Hadjar next second driver for Red Bull?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Slam dunk impeding case for Sainz?

Lawson in the RB out-qualifying Tsunoda 😶

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Yeah, he got a 3 place grid penalty for that.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Yea that seemed super cut and dry, sadly

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lawson beating Yuki now. The scenes at Red Bull lol.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

It was to be expected - the CashGrab is easier to drive compared to the Red Bull :(

Though he looked promising in Q1, even if he was only 0.3s down on Max there

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

well, the curse is back :(

I blame red bull. Why not give him 2 runs with the new softs. Better to reach Q3 with only one new set than to not reach Q3 at all

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yeah. In the end it was Yuki making mistakes what ruined his lap. But they really should have given him two new soft runs

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah but they know he has less than 2 hours in the car. How do they expect him to nail it in one go. They could have given him the new softs for run 1 and then depending on how he did, they could have chosen to go again with new tyres.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

I absolutely think he could've gotten a better lap out but when you only get one try in a difficult to drive car you're pretty much banking on luck to have a good lap.

Move over Azerbaijan, new Land of Fire just dropped.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Red flag. Fires again.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Another fire lmao

I will say I don't mind red flags in Suzuka so much because then we get to check out more of the amazing Japanese fans and their hats!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 19 hours ago

Wow; thanks for sharing these! So many epic hats the f1tv coverage missed!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 19 hours ago

I'm at the race and caught the DHL competition giveaway thing last night for best hats. Absolutely insane scenes. Even a pram with working Drs flap

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I wonder what issue Hadjar is facing in the cockpit. Seems like something that should've been resolved during FP.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Clearly hemorrhoids

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Whatever it is he's at least managed to get out of q1 while dealing with it

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's probably part of the seat belt cutting into his leg at high G. I imagine it's fine when he's sat in the garage but if he goes through Spoon it's starts hurting.

I imagine we'll hear it in post.

Second redbull having a decent time feels illegal

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Bets on how many red flags?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Is F1TV working for anyone? I get a coverage has ended screen

Edit: Started working a second ago

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I had that problem too

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

It's fine here

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Working for me.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Predictions for grass fire count?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

My guess is 0; they sent a bunch of dudes out there with weed whackers after p2

Edit: welp I'll go eat my hat now
