- He proudly voted for Trump, a man known to value women only as a commodity. Why would he worry about this wife when he can get a new one at equal or better value?
- He proudly voted for Trump, a known grifter and therefore probably appreciates a good grift. These donations are likely going to support himself and he'll gladly let his wife be the face of "illegal immigrants can look like anyone."
How could he have any regrets? He's suddenly getting so much attention. See points 1 and 2.

It's so frustrating that Camila doesn't deserve any of this, but the person saying they wouldn't change their decision and does deserve to see consequences will refuse to actually feel them.
Like, I want her out, but how dare this asshole say he regrets nothing while asking others to bail him out for the thing he voted for and still wants more of? Why is a social safety net OK in this case to this guy, but not for anyone else?
The detentions are a for-profit endeavor, the people are being treated inhumanely, and this is all some Nazi-level shit. I want all the allies that can be won away from the neofascists. Damn that sucks if true. I really do feel bad for them, but like what is the point of me donating if he's not going to speak out against this administration. Doesn't he realize it's not just about his situation, but for everyone else who's also impacted by this? I rather give to another family that will not only use these funds to hopefully turn their situation around but also you know like then also give back/help others and speak out. To be honest I didn't look into OP's comment to fact check because you know I'm only human, busy and got problems of my own. If true though this is really sad ....
There are already too many deserving charities for my pocket book. Giving money to an unrepentant Trump voter who got exactly what he voted for gets my sympathy, but not a dime.

There's a lot of thinking going on while the U.S. government strips the rights of Americans and endangers many lives globally.
What will putting feelings aside achieve? In order for me to stop being angry at what America is doing, I would have to stop giving a fuck about the atrocities of deporting legal residents who protest or the attempted erasure of the queer community or the genocides they support etc, etc.
Making decisions from passions tend to have unforseen effects.
