"Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz landed Sunday in the United States in what senior Israeli officials said was a calculated move by the White House designed to strengthen the moderate wing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government,” Haaretz reports.

“Gantz is scheduled to meet with senior officials, including White House meetings with Vice President Kamala Harris and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on Monday. He will also meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Middle East envoy Brett McGurk, and pay a call to Congress.”

“The trip has created tensions between Gantz and the prime minister, who had refused to authorize it. Netanyahu instructed Mike Herzog, Israel’s ambassador to Washington, not to assist Gantz during the visit and not to join the meetings.”

He’s a criminal who should be in prison so who cares? Get the real story from Gantz and the US should then put Bibi to bed.

Enough wasting time and money and lives on incompetence and evil.

Just so we're clear, the WAR MINISTER is the moderate over there? Jesus Christ, Bibi

Seriously fuck this guy...he's a goddamn monster

Netanyahu is every terrible Jewish stereotype wrapped in flesh. As a Jew, I abhor him. I would hate him if I weren't a Jew, too, but his attempt to represent me and mine with his bloody hands earns him extra spite.

I hope Gantz's visit further empowers those Israelis who are against Netanyahu and his genocidal agenda. Bibi needs to be gone.

It has never been about racial/religious bigotry. Some of us sincerely don't like people who act like fucking cunts as though it was their calling in life. That prick Netanyahu fits squarely in that box for me. I don't give a shit what his beliefs or ethnicity happen to be, he is an evil, despotic, freak who needs to be punished for his crimes against humanity. I feel the same way about Dick Cheney, just as an example.

This is part of the opening moves by Biden for a two state solution.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

It seems like a classic political triangulation. On one end he's shown to allies of the US that they will stand with their partners (soft power). In this case it involves participating in genocide. The pivot comes when said ally shows that their intentions are not in line with what the global community considers defendable. Then both sides are covered. It's slimy and immoral but I don't think people consider how important soft power is on a state level.

Don't bank on it. The blocks for a two state solution have been in place for decades. Read "100 Year War on Palestine." It'll fuck you up.

What do you think about a 3 state solution with one for each side of the conflict plus a federal entity protecting and defending both? If you ask me, capping any solution at two states merely perpetuate apartheid conditions.

Taking inspiration from the American system... Don't Jews and Muslims believe in the same abrahamic God?

Taking inspiration from the American system... Don't Jews and Muslims believe in the same abrahamic God?

And both think their same god gave them the same land and the right to kill anyone else who lives there.

So fucking what, write them a first amendment and then beep beep freedom baby

[–] [email protected] 20 points 8 months ago

Should put some hustle under that two state solution. Pretty soon one state will just be a genocide memorial in a dirt lot surrounded by Israeli settlements.

Anything that pisses off Bibi is good with me. Give Gantz an afternoon at the beach with Biden and get them some ice cream cones. Show Bibi what he could have if he wasn't such a genocidal prick.

Gantz is still authoritarian as fuck, he's just not a complete psychopath as Netanyahu.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/harris-to-meet-with-benny-gantz-netanyahus-centrist-political-rival

Gantz, who polls show could be a formidable candidate for prime minister if a vote were held today, is viewed as a political moderate. But he has remained vague about his view of Palestinian statehood — something that Biden sees as essential to forging a lasting peace once the conflict ends but that Netanyahu adamantly opposes.

And there's a good chance he's just coming here as a stunt to say he tried to reason with Biden but Biden won't give anymore support.

That would really help him replace Netanyahu, and as soon as Gantz splits an election is likely.

Just like in America, simply not being the worst possible option doesn't mean you're a good option. Just not the worst.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Are you basing this "authoritarian as fuck" opinion solely on him being vague on his position on Palestinian statehood? Because what I've seen from him doesn't give me that vibe at all

[–] [email protected] 29 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I think it's great Biden is making overtures to the liberal opposition. Fuck Netanyahu

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Liberal? But, definitely to the left of Netanyahu, and that's a better step. If only Israel dumps the settlers with no protection, that's my biggest beef with Israel.
