I'm sorry to tell you this, but this is your life for the foreseeable future. You're living though a historic period. As such, these are going to be the things people are thinking and saying until politics ceases to be hugely consequential. And that's probably going to be at least a decade.
Believe me, I'm not thrilled about any of this either. I recommend you make some memes about how shitty it is to not be able to escape this stuff. Those'll do well.
The amazing part to me is just how surprised liberals are that any of this is happening. We have never had an administration, good or bad, that is this coordinated and effective and unified while also having control of all branches of government. When the dems had control of the house and senate in 2010, he didn't have the unity or control over the party like Trump has over the GOP now, and the supreme court was against him too.
Just think of what could have been if the tables were turned. What if the dems weren't so shitty and passive? What if they actually preached for working class politics, and acted on popular policies. What if they actually codified abortion rights? What if they were an actual left wing party, and didn't participate in and support anti-left wing and anti-working class propaganda for 70 years? Where would we be if a real left wing party had this much power?
Liberals will break the law, or create new laws, to stop the left, but think the law is enough to stop the right. The reason is that the Liberal cause is a "nice to have", but the protection of neoliberalism is a "must have".
I learnt that from Shaun's video about JK Rowling, which is eye opening. Basically, nothing bad in her universe ever changes. Slavery remains, because the slaves like it, for instance. Maintaining that status quo is a "must have" for her. Having the heroes fight for what's right is a "nice to have", despite being the main story.
I've never seen this meme in this high of fidelity. Whoa.

Neoliberalism is fascism with extra steps, so by that formula this is just fascism.

Sorry. New to lemmy. I am running the sync client on Android. Is there a better way to make gifs more universal? Seems like it was 50/50 on it working for people. Or is just better to just post the link?
I’ve had the most success by downloading the gif then uploading it using the upload feature on the comment compose screen. Works fine in the many apps I’ve tried.
The Voyager app also lets you copy and “paste” into the compose box and automatically uploads right there. This works most of the time and is very convenient.
The better way to thwart republicans: take away their memes.
