As someone who doesn't know much about war tactics: why was that tank just sitting in a very open position, with its hatch open and how did the fighter approach it without getting noticed?

It appears the IDF soldiers were using the position as some kind of base. And that they were firing the machineguns earlier. The ambushers waited until the gunners dismounted and quickly rushed the vehicles.
The balls on those guys. No Israeli would ever go at those length just to defend this land. They were hiding and trying to leave to whatever western country they’re from as soon as Iran sent the first rockets over like the cowards they are. Glory to the resistance, free Palestine!
