Community Rules
You must post before you leave
Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).
Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.
Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.
Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".
Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.
Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.
Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.
Avoid AI generated content.

Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
im not here for the links, im here for the comfy peeps who are super nice and post nice stuff and like - u kno, are reasonable and fun to interact with.
i dun want to be thrown on some site which wants me to pay 4$ to not be tracked, i dun want to be thrown onto Musks platform, i wanna stay here! in the land of comf peeps and vibes
I agree, its just kinda funny imo.
What about blahaj.zone, (without the Lemmy) its a sharkey instance, which is compatible with lemmy.
i am on the blahaj zone! it very comf too. but i was unable to use my Lemmy account >~<
Try following @[email protected] (paste it into the "lookup" thing)
wait huh!? but this is still the Lemmy platform! i already get notifications for it cuz it's on my instance... like - that is THIS COMMUNITY. Why did u share this?
me on my link aggregator site: there better not be any goddamn links here
yes, these links got no reason to be here >:(
(i literally do the same as op though hehe, too lazy to exit the app to view a link)
I'm the opposite. I'd rather click on links than read memes.
I hate memes.

they're annoying and like - i enjoy lemmy. it a fun platform. but - not them links... especially when the links are owned by evil cooperations >;(
Then why even use a link aggregate site in the first place? 🤷🏻♂️
Because threaded forum discussions are about more than posting links. I mean look at me right now. I'm replying to you, to your comment, but not to the whole thread. People can follow our replies separate from the group. It's a game-changer compared to the old-school forums which had one long reply chain to the thread and the thread alone.
because the people here are nice and i like interacting with them. i don't care for article reposts, im just here for the funzies
the people here are nice
Damn, you must have a blocklist a kilometre long
I just block lemmygrad and hexbear.
uhm.... no. i just only stay on local
and subscribed
.
maybe this is an all
-only issue. i have only had some very rare times where people were rude or saying evil stuffs.
i only blocked one person, who just randomly said "stop putting word in my mouth" and accused me of sexualizing butts even tho that was the posts point... no other blocks still tho.
Yeah okay, that seems pretty sensible tbh
.....what? What the holy hell am I reading here? If you don't "like links", why the fuck are you here at all? And who is "ruling" anything?
its not that they dont like links, its that they dont like having links with no description that you have to click on and open to understand, and most of those are links to proprietary websites like youtube and othed large social media.
Yes. This is an aggregate site. The entire point of it is to link to other sources. That is why it exists.
yeah its supposed to be a place to share links. the problem is when the post is just a link with no explanation of what the link is.
yes this exactly what i mean. these empty posts where it's just a link, maybe even with the title header unchanged from the actual article title, which is usually super click-baity...
also...
pls use she/her for me
thaanksies <3
They don't show display names iirc.
what exactly are u refering to? u mean my username or the dropdown thingy?
i never used boost cuz proprietary software, but i kinda wanna know how these clients handle the posts stuffs.
Both, display names don't show on the android clients I've tried so far.
The drop-down menu shows on Voyager but not others I've tried.
what do you mean by display names? i'm only aware of the one display name which i see on the web-client and on Jerboa, my lemmi app.
does boost only show the initial, unedited username you have set? that seems kinda not so cool... imma be honest... ;(
when i change ma name, i want peeps to see it! and not see some old deadname! yesyes, if how i describe it is the case, thats very not cool.. ~
Well yeah that's the display name.
And not just boost but others as well some bigger ones like Voyager don't show display names as well.
big sad ;(
with they would just - display the display name.
its unfortunate, im mostly at my pc though, but sucks for Mobile only users. Hopefully it will be something that's added at a later date.
i completely agree
and
sorry i didnt see ur pronouns earlier so i just used neutral :P
