For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Elon bringing Dead Internet Theory to life...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 8 months ago

"It's AI bots all the way down."

Hopefully mainstream journalists and government sources we'll start pulling away from their twitter accounts. It's time to go the way of neo pets.

At the end of the article, the sharing options are Facebook or X πŸ™„

Good. I just wish we could make Elon lose all his money. I think people are tired of talking on a lot of platforms. Here I am in bed just typing some BS cause I can't sleep and a slow or anything to watch or play is too much of a commitment. πŸ˜‚

The "AI" feedback loophole..

The worst thing about xitter isn't even AI generated, but the fact that every post comments is just full of unrelated memes. I almost miss the cesspool of ol' twitter

It's weird to think about, but there was a time when twitter was not for political jockeying. People were just sharing interesting things about their days

I was tweeting about huge shits, as God intended.

The worse part of xitter is how they broke access to everything if you aren’t a registered user. They even break the chronological order of posts for anonymous users. I don’t feel encouraged to make a xitter account when I can’t even see things without one, it just makes me feel like I’m signing up to be another piece of livestock.

I was perfectly happy spending 5-10 minutes looking around without an account if I wondered my way there. Now twitter exist to me as screenshots at other locations.

Sometimes I wonder how many advertisements are heavily influenced by AI-generated prompts. How many reels on YouTube are just AI generated scripts? How many posts on Reddit are just rehashed AI nonsense?

Something something dead internet theory

AI will bring back the personal meeting as the only information exchange worth while. Phonecalls can't be trusted and anything read on the internet. Imagine an ai calling to sell something, that gets to talk to your ai call recieved that you use to weed out sales marketing calls? They'd talk forever trying to convince eachother they are human.

Access to a pre 2020-encyclopaedia will be a an information advantage and "if I can't prove it myself I can't trust it" will become norm.

Dead internet theory on steroids☹️

My corner of Twitter is pretty bot-free. As much as I hate Musk, a lot of us have hobbies that are tied to the platform, some on a national level. The news posts I see seem to generalize the entire platform as Nazis and Elon, when that's really only a small slice of the communities there. Vocal minority and all that.

Unlike here on Lemmy, where it can be just a ghost town.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I'll take "few people" over "mostly bots".

That's the thing about decentralized social media: Individual sites and sub-communities don't have to be particularly active. They just need to exist as a place for honest discussion.

I like my online life to be like my real life. Empty and without meaning.

Ba-dum tshh...

I love me my little ghost town.
