The fact he's too stupid to Google "do I have to use a Microsoft account to login to Windows 11" is astounding. People believe this guy engineers rockets, laughable.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The number of times people have told me, "well SpaceX engineers have been quoted as saying he's very competent!" Yeah, how big was their bonus after that?

Companies that function have Musk handlers. Twitter and now seemingly Tesla have failed to keep him at bay and you can see the end results.

In two years time there will be retrospective articles about how could the country have let him fuck the government up so bad, how did no one see this coming, why did no one stop him... Etc

Is it really a broken clock situation if you’re guilty of the very thing you’re complaining about?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, this is just pot calling the kettle black, or seeing the splinter in his neighbor's eye but not the beam in his own (or whatever it is in English).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have never heard that idiom and I love it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's one of many things out of the bible that have pretty much just become a saying (the splinter/beam one)

This guy is the definition of stupidity, Microsoft has many things to be hated on but this is not one of them. He is complaining just like the average Windows user

He is probably using a company laptop which by default requires a Windows account to be used, if it’s his personal account that’s another story but this is also how Microsoft tools are built. You don’t like this way instead of complaining just switch to macOS or Linux

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah this is absolutely one of them. Elon Musk is right in this case, although he's still an idiot

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes it's just you. There is still a local account option in windows 11.

There are enough other things to hate Microsoft for but this is not one of them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I don't think there is anything for Elon to hate Microsoft for considering he does all the same things.

The super genius apparently doesn't hate them enough to bother using a free alternative that doesn't have these issues.

Lots of people in this thread calling him out for not doing the bypass, and I really don't want to be defending him, but he did try too. The issue was that the computer automatically connected to a nearby open wifi network so was not presenting the no network option. I'm completely sure that no bad actors are going to take advantage of this fact to infect new machines.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Too bad going into the BIOS and turning off the WiFi was too difficult for a super genius computer wizard like Musk.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean, it apparently just needed to be de-selected, but my comment was more about how bloody concerning it is that Win11 devices just connect to whatever nearby open wifi network they can find to phone home.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well yeah, Microsoft sucks from many standpoints, including privacy and security, but he's the last person to be complaining about any of it for a multitude of reasons.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, okay, sure. But call him out for the legitimately stupid/awful stuff he does. This thread is full of folks talking about how easy the bypass is, when I've looked up that bypass for one of my own devices and nothing said shit about fuck when it came to automatically connecting to open wifi networks. Which is a concerning escalation in privacy issues from Microsoft to me.

I can't speak for them, but that is not why I posted it. I posted it to show that "genius" Elon both doesn't know how to do very basic things with computers that non-beginners could figure out and that he has a problem with other people having access to his data, but he has access to the entire federal government's computer systems which have all sorts of personal details about virtually everyone in the U.S.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

He's so fucking stupid.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

Unelected immigrant with illegal unfettered access to all data in the entire federal government complains about having to have a microsoft account to use Windows.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Nope, the Steam Deck has been my daily driver, I love it.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

LOL yeah dude you just

In the setup page before you select language Open cmd with Shift + F10 and type OOBE\BYPASSNRO

Then set up the computer without internet

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or just use Rufus to make the ISO and check the box to bypass creating an account. I'm dual booting Windows 11 right now without one.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

Wait the richest asshole in the world uses regular windows like poor commoners?

Because he has access to many sensitive data, shouldn't be using windows enterprise with a finely tuned group policy by some AD guru??
