Maybe flying is no longer a safe option in the US anymore, due to changes by the new government?

Gosh, maybe we need fewer people in the tower. That makes sense. 🙄

This is a ground controller issue. ATC passes control to ground controller for taxiing air crafts. But yes more airport controller staff is needed in general.

I'm just waiting for them to install autonomous piloting so no one has to pay for pilots or ATC

Nothing could ever go wrong with that!!!

I'm going to be traveling to Chicago later this year. We chose the railway instead of the air. Things like this reinforce exactly why I made that decision.

You also chose the more environmentally friendly option. Thank you

If you believe this article, commercial airlines are much much safer than passenger rail. There was another article that I don't feel like citing that suggested that, in the US, trains didn't even have a carbon advantage.

Listen homie. My car has over 200k miles on it and I don't want to take it halfway across the country and back. Renting a car seems wasteful in lots of ways, Boeing engineers don't even trust their own planes enough to recommend flying on them, I'm grasping for straws here. Lie to me. The train is gonna be awesome, and we're gonna see the parts of America most people miss!

And for sure y'all will be more comfortable to boot. Trains are awesome. Enjoy your trip!

Yeah but that doesn't account for all the stuff that's been going on lately

[–] [email protected] 37 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah there's never been a rail accident in the US.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 hours ago

To be fair, rail accidents on passenger trains tend to be less deadly.

Pipe down over there! I have to get there somehow and I'd like my sanity intact, thank you very much

[–] [email protected] 6 points 18 hours ago

Haha sorry.
