I wouldn't say it was a failure.
It sold quite well considering its price.
The original specifications and price were never going to be met,
Even if you ignore the politics it's just a terrible car that is way too expensive. I'm honestly surprised it sold any units at all but I guess people just like vanity toys.
It's hard to find insurance for it, it's objectively terrible at its job, that's very few mechanics that can service it, It isn't available in Europe, it has terrible quality control issues, It is made by a company with terrible customer service, and it is made by Nazi
So many reasons not to buy it.
No thank you. I don't want a swasticar.
I'd love to have one of those new production old style beetles. But we can't buy them here because our govt sucks donkey dick.
Hate for his employees to suffer for his shitty actions but there it is
They already suffered from his shitty actions, he did not become a terrible person overnight.
Strange I see them everywhere
Do you by chance live in a high CoL area?
No East Coast
Plenty of the east coast is high CoL. Not as much as in the west, but plenty.
I do, and even the bougie "conservative" assholes aren't that interested. They're more the decked out F-whatever and gas guzzler types.
I don't like to say it but a third party dealership was selling some painted ones that actually looked pretty nice. Nice enough to make me think that maybe the plan was always to pass on the cost to the buyer, it's so much better.
Or maybe it was just a talented... car painter? Is that a thing when they're just working with flat panels and no design?
At least the Wolkswagen was egineered properly. I don't see anyone continuing to use this design after the war.
Well that was designed by one of the GOATs - Ferdinand Porsche
