I think another great way is waiting a year or two, wait for a deep discount to buy. You dont have to miss out you just have to send the message that the game wasn't worth your immediate attention or the full price they asked for
So the only way i ever buy a game is there way of "sending a message" lol
Redditors are always doing some dumb ineffective maneuvers like this.
complain about thing
best thing to do would be to abstain from thing
do thing as soon as it comes out
They did it with the switch 2, the harry potter game (or any media around it tbh), the api changes on the site, etc. And the funny thing is the most obvious solution is to pirate the game but redditors are ghastly afraid to pirate for some reason. Many such cases!
The API changes were the main reason I finally bailed on reddit. I do not like their site/app and they killed my favorite third party app. I only find myself using reddit when Hexbear posts about something. Bailing on reddit was great for me, way too many rightwingers there and even the left subs are basically just radlibs mad at communists for being right all the time (db0 feels like a clone of the reddit left)
To their credit there are a number of comments in that thread suggesting pirating, even in the thread of the top comment.
Here's one, looks like mods removed the comment, probably for telling everyone to pirate, but maybe not because others are saying the same and they're still there.
It is completely and utterly absurd that "you'll get a bonus if you accomplish this, but also we have the authority to stop you from doing this at the last minute until after the deadline so we don't have to pay you" is even possible. Like that's such a transparent layer of "yeah business owners just get to do crimes right out in the open" that it boggles the mind.
It reminds me of how Bethesda screwed over obsidion.
