Yeah, Lemmy is crazily echo-chambered. If you don't actively shit on Elon for absolutely everything he does (be it good or bad) you get downvoted and called a bigot.
Why can't people be normal and shit on Elon for bad stuff and praise him for good stuff. There is not a single person in the world that is 100% good or 100% bad - everyone is on the spectrum and even the worst people have certain good aspects (and the best people have shit aspects).
EDIT: I sometimes feel like I could write a full-on essay about how Elon sucks and it would still get downvoted into oblivion just cuz I said like one positive thing about him in it.
Exactly, I hate him for who he is and most of what he does but the $100million USD contest to sequester carbon permanently is a fantastic thing to sponsor as we must remove carbon from the cycle and not just store it in trees.

Calling Asmongold the "the worst person you know" is fucking pathetic. He gets consistently shit on by journalists for having the ability to think for himself.
I've only heard he streams the entirety other people's work for a living, what are the journalists saying?
He’s pretty clearly a shitty person that no one should model themselves after.

It’s not what he says rather it is who he is and presents himself as.

So then what was the point of your initial comment? I said no one should model themselves after him. You replied that that was a harsh statement, but if you don’t think anyone should aspire to be like someone else what is the problem?
I don't think he's a shitty person. He doesn't actively harm or exploit anyone just spergs out on the internet playing Vidya. If every Texan was an asmongold it would be a half decent state.
I think his larger message is his harm. I think his attitude is problematic as is his hygiene.
What do you even interpret his "larger message" to be?
Collecting videogame mounts? Reacting to other people's YouTube videos?
His overt racism and sexism are a problem as are his anti-social norms regarding hygiene/sanitation etc
He definitely is a member of a subculture, I don't watch much of his content but I appreciate the moderating effect he has on gamer culture in general. It would be easy for him to sell out to the right wing corporate media machine but he hasn't.
There are so many people who are not just worse than him but intentionally pretending to be the worst person they can imagine for monetary gain.
He strikes me as a rather genuine person.
What moderating effect do you think he has?

Why would you be a nazi? I suspect you are a cnfused child if you think Asmingold is an aspirational figure.
Asmongold is the kind of guy who is unfuckable despite having money. Why would you want to be that guy?
Do you habitual judge people entirely on their fuckability? I mean, I have little opinion of Asmongold except what I see other people saying about him on the internet, but that seems like a weirdly sexualized take on things.
When Im talking to an obvious teenaged boy it’s safer to talk in terms they understand. A 15 year old might get why Asmongold isunfuckable but they might not understand why adults would hold him in disdain regardless of what he does.
Playing by someone else's rules means they dictate the conversation. You have significantly less power. If you want people to act like adults, like reasonable people, try treating them that way.
It may not work, but it's far more likely to do so than constantly talking down to them.
