Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has criticised Britain’s invitation to Mr Donald Trump for a second state visit, saying it undermined his government’s effort to project a united front against the US President’s talk of annexing Canada.

Mr Starmer, who is trying to improve trading ties with the US after Britain left the European Union, has sought to play to its strengths when dealing with Mr Trump, talking up its security expertise, pledging higher defence spending, and offering the pomp and pageantry that comes with a state visit.

The problem is that we shot ourselves in the foot a few years ago and don’t have the power to resist the US that we once had.

Should have gone crying back to the EU instead of the US.

Welk yeah, Brexit was caused by lies and propaganda produced and spread by Rupert Murdoch and Facebook. Done in order to weaken the Union. That's what the Cambridge Analytica leaks revealed. It all makes sense. Paris agreement happens, We are on the Cusp of the green revolution. Big oil pay Murdoch and Big tech to start proliferating propaganda for Brexit and then most militarily ready and one of the only Nuclear Powers in Europe leaves the EU. Further propaganda spreads intolerance creating the far-right which begin to take power in European Countries, further dividing them up. They get Merz elected in Germany because they want to abolish GDPR, so they can further their influence and control on the continent. The bombs dropped on Gaza are made in Kent, British Petroleum and Shell Oil are still buying from Russia. We have had the technology to leave oil and gas behind for 70 years. Coal fire powerplants put more radiation into the atmosphere in a single year than Nuclear reactors will in their entire life span. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Fox, airs the Simpsons, who is the evil billionaire who pollutes the environment non-stop. Mr. Burns, owner of the nuclear plant, even though nuclear power produces less waste and no smog or smoke.

Nuclear waste is depicted as glowing green goo that mutates you. When in reality, they are small compact containers of ceramic glass and concrete encased in steel. This is what a stress test is for one of those containers, just FYI. (Invidious, FOSS frontend for youtube) https://yewtu.be/watch?v=Zv8xnmOHeCE Modern electric cars + Nuclear power, means no more reliance on fossil fuels for energy. That's why Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan and all Right Wing "Influencers" spread climate denial and talk about how dangerous nuclear power is. Because with the amount of energy produced by a modern Thorium Salt nuclear reactor. It would be the end of for profit energy and an end to Big Oil's stranglehold on our planet. Trump knows Global warming is real, he just had seawalls built around his golf course. That's why the war in Ukraine will continue, that's why Gaza will Continue and spread into more Muslim countries. Because war is the only way fossil fuels can continue and the green revolution can be impeded. https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?__goaway_challenge=meta-refresh&__goaway_id=be1d88676e707c1a864529575117cbaf&v=BcoN2bdACGA This is a video by Kyle Hill on a company called Copenhagen Atomics. This will make threatening War with Denmark over Greenland make a lot more sense.

The problem is the inability of politicians to understand that you can take a huge decision with a referendum, but you can reverse that decision the same way.

Or that the referendum wasn’t binding so they could have just said that the result wasn’t decisive enough given that the turnout was less than 75%.

Had they done that they’d have been out of government for a decade at least.

Yep! And the question should have been "Do you want us to negotiate the terms so we can have a second, well informed, referendum?"
