Is it possible to disable Google Play update popups in other apps? (lemmy.zip)

Open Google Play Store
Tap your profile icon and go to Manage apps & device
Tap Manage at the top tab bar
Scroll and find your app, tap it
In the upper right tap the three dot menu and disable "Enable auto update"

If it's already disabled I'm not sure what to try. I used APKMirror to downgrade Discord back to a usable version, disabled Play Store updates for it, and haven't had this issue.
