If chronological age were strictly used to determine how acceptable a relationship is, that's pretty much what you're saying, they only live to be like 8, what other species in Star Trek have such a short life span

Pretty sure we've had this argument before but Ocampa don't reach sexual maturity until they're 4 or 5. Still a little :libertarian-approaching: to be the jealous boyfriend of a member of a species that has been infantilized and sequestered away for hundreds of generations.
Biological ability to reproduce =/= ability to consent to a relationship, next
It's pretty simple to see the difference. One of them is technically underage but very clearly an adult, but the anime stereotype that is really fucked up is when someone is technically of age but very clearly a child.
