Ngl, some of us cis folk hold back because we aren't sure if happiness is wanted as a response.
Now me? I'm a dumbass with little or no filter when I don't have prep time, so the first person I ever knew that got top surgery and told me about it ahead of time, my response was "no shit? About damn time."
Like, c'mon dude, show a little damn restraint before opening your yap, maybe read the room before responding like that. What if the dude had been scared and looking for medical advice or something, and now he's worried about opening up about that fear. Luckily, it was the right response, but it could have been boneheadly inappropriate.
I'd pretend I'd never be that thick again, but I don't like lying.
