Niche subs.

We just don't have the users here for it yet. Some of the niche subs exist on Lemmy, there's just no activity.

That's about it though. I don't miss Reddit discourse. Don't miss 99% of my comments never being seen or responded to. I don't miss Reddit censorship. There is some censorship here, but it's entirely dependent on the sub and it's pretty minimal. Crybaby mods are much less of an issue here.

Do you think it's strictly a lack of users, or that the current userbase may have a rather narrow set of interests?

Not OC, but it's probably both. There are too few users, but still most of the content on my feed is anti-Trump news, Buy European posts and such. I don't hate it but it's definitely not anywhere close to the Reddit experience yet
