That explains why my ex complained about me lasting so long. Like legitimately complained.

It's probably the medicines I've taken since I was a teenager then. If 5 minutes is a marathon, 45-60 must be some cruel form of torture.

Not necessarily medication.

There's a lot that goes into how fast someone can reach orgasm and/or ejaculation (they don't have to happen at the same time).

Just a quick listing of some factors

Nerve density, circumcision status, age, masturbation habits, mental status, attraction, timing of recent ejaculation, general neurological state, nerve conductivity. That's just off the top of my head, and it isn't a complete listing

See, a lot of people think ejaculation is a magic formula where you mix friction with movement and get spooj. And it can work like that.

Let's take one example that is a major factor in delayed ejaculation during penetrative sex. The death grip. A lot of men get into the habit of squeezing hard and then beating it like it owes you money. This can work, it's a very common way for boys to end up using a lot as they learn to masturbate because the "wiring" involved does take time to develop sometimes.

Thing is, if that's the only way you ever masturbate, your brain an nervous system get used to it, and anything less intense just doesn't work until you retrain yourself. The lighter pressure and higher lubrication of a vagina ends up feeling like nothing in comparison, leading to a lot of boys and men having difficulty reaching orgasm and/or ejaculation.

Now, take a person using a death grip, and they're circumcised. It's a very common thing with the circumcised penis for the head to have decreased sensitivity, and it may even have a kind of thickening called keratinization. Basically, the head develops a kind of callus because it isn't protected by a foreskin.

With both of those in play, not only is the base sensitivity lower, but the habit of going for the highest possible intensity stimulation makes it harder to enjoy the sensitivity that is there, leading to not only delayed orgasm, but utter anorgasmia during sex.

Stack on something like a slower nerve response that's just how your body works as a baseline, and you get guys that never ejaculate during penetrative sex.

And, you're right, vaginas can object to the times necessary for men with those kind of delays to achieve orgasm is ejaculation. The vagina is not an infinite spring of lubrication, and the tissues inside are sensitive. There's a wide range of what vaginas can handle before it becomes unpleasant, but it definitely can for any woman. Plus, some women become so hypersensitive after orgasm, that any activity is overwhelming, so it isn't like everyone with a vagina gets to have multiple orgasms freely.

The good news is that some factors in delayed orgasm for men can be alleviated. Just retraining how we masturbate can help a ton. Switching over to using minimum pressure, just enough to feel it at all, and being patient in trying to reach orgasm that way is a big help, even when medication is the primary limitation. You retrain your brain and body to accept that kind of stimulation, which eventually leads to easier orgasms during sex and better orgasms across the board.

There's other ways to handle specific issues, too many for a single comment. But the point is that there are things to try, if the duration to orgasm is a problem.

Nerve density, circumcision status, age, masturbation habits, mental status, attraction, timing of recent ejaculation, general neurological state, nerve conductivity.

So I don't know about the death grip thing. Maybe when I was really young.

My sensitivity seems fine to me. Uncircumcised, 30s, neurological state and nerve conductivity. Also mental state... Fascinating.

I do have an autonomic dysfunction. And I do have nerve conductivity issues, but I couldn't finish the tests it was too painful.

But mental state. That... Makes a lot of sense. Ever since my ex-wifes affair, i can't even enjoy porn. Low key terrified if I ever meet someone I won't be able to enjoy her.

Yeah, makes sense. Autonomic issues play hell with the arousal cycle. That alone could well be the root cause.

But, hey, I had some issues after the last breakup I went through. It was pretty destructive to my sense of self, libido, and performance. It wasn't infidelity that caused it, but I reckon it's similar enough to merit saying that it is definitely something that not only passes with time, but can be treated with therapy. If you have the ability to do that, I would. Then, when you do meet someone, be honest about it. Just say that you had a bad divorce, and you're worried it might take a little understanding to get things going right. You'd be amazed how chill women can be about that kind of thing. Helpful, even.

I run into the "dude, I need a break, my vagina is tired" myself. Different reasons, but it's a thing I learned to be up front about. Most of my partners over the years, they were totally down with making things work in a mutually enjoyable way. It just took me being willing to talk about it.

My wife? She came along after the bad breakup, and the way she responded to my issues was so great.

So, don't let that anxiety fuck with you. It's a reasonable, rational concern, but it has answers and solutions. You got this :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

It really wouldn't surprise me if the autonomic dysfunction was a partial cause of it. I still find it has surprises in store for me. I can exercise and intensely, but only in the right environment. Humidity has to be right, fully hydrated, heat has to be right, my heart rate has to be monitored, otherwise my blood pressure will plummet and the rest of my body does too.

When I was a kid, i was always almost last place in phyed running. Id faint at baseball, basketball, carrying heavy things. Eventually a cardiologist said "yo wait a minute" and did a whole series of tests and found that I sweat abnormally, my body doesn't link heart rate and blood pressure correctly, and there's something up with how my digestive system responds to food.

It shares similarities with several neuropathies, but I'm not diabetic, and I didn't have any illnesses as a kid that would cause it that we know of. It's also almost identical to Long-COVID syndrome, so I was kind of super happy that appeared, and hoped that I might get some answers.

Man, that's a whole syndrome messing with you. Afaik, nobody has found what causes the body to do it, but everyone I've known that deals with it end up so frustrated before they get diagnosed. Hell, even afterwards, because treatment options aren't exactly great.

Sorry you're dealing with all that

Yeah the diagnosis was POTS way back when. And the treatment is Gatorade and potato chips and small doses of beta blockers to limit the heart rate.

I guess I didn't think that it would affect everything related to the autonomic system. Yay, even more surprises.

Just curious, how do you ever find the time to masturbate?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

I dont

Edit: usually bedtime
