A better choice was to vote no on cloture. They needed 60 votes, so they needed Democrats to pass the bill.
Then there would be two options:
Schumer and others voting with him were most likely bribed and are actually ok with what's happening.
The first point would never happen because the R's can play hardball.
The second point would have everyone blaming the D's for the shutdown.
There was no good option.
It doesn't matter. Those who actually pay attention to politics would know who is at fault, those who don't, know trump is the president.
Also what this administration is doing is ensuring that the next election no longer will matter.
I don't get why so many Americans still don't see it.
Congress completely capitulated to trump, courts are trying to fight, but this administration is now ignoring them, institutions were taken over by DOGE and won't do anything.
We got to a point that this won't get unfucked without massive protests. The irony in this all is that April 19 is the 250th anniversary of the American Revolutionary war.
And on that anniversary we are turning into monarchy it seems.
Bribed in that they don't want to risk their donors like Democratic Majority For Israel not giving them money because a govt shutdown would mean money wouldn't go to the Israeli baby killing machine/ genocide.
Their donors clearly wanted trump. Also all everyone trump is doing right now showed very clearly that unless we do massive protests, the election from 2026, 2028 etc won't matter. We will still have them, but if they lose they simply won't certify them.
I think you guys might need to skip straight to Maidan at this point
QUICK NOW DOUBLE DOWN EVERYONE AND DOWNVOTE THIS CURIOUS ASSHOLE WHO BETTER UNDERSTANDS, AND HAS FANTASTIC MANNERS!
I see you're a new account, but that doesn't really happen here. I'd also appreciate not having people insinuate that it's normal.

In this thread. Generally the reply gets more favorable votes when people are chill but the initial down vote thing is often similar to a Reddit
Initial downvote for bad takes, yeah. People rarely get downvoted for taking arguments against them seriously and changing their minds though.
