Despite Trump’s decidedly critical tone toward Ukraine and its president and warm gestures toward Russia, the level of overall American public sympathy with Ukraine and the lack of sympathy for Russia have not changed since the summer of 2024. If the intent of the public spat with Zelenskyy was to sour the American mood toward Ukraine, the latest poll indicates that it was a failure, not only in the continued high level of sympathy with Ukraine but also in that more people rated Trump’s performance as inappropriate than said the same about the Ukrainian president’s performance in that unprecedented meeting.
With only about one-third of Americans supporting his decision to suspend aid to Ukraine, Trump may have helped himself by quickly renewing the provision of aid and getting Ukraine to reportedly agree to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia.
As one might expect, the president has had some impact on his core Republican constituency. But the drop in Republican sympathy with Ukraine from 58% last summer to 45% now is modest if one considers that the Republican president is still in his early honeymoon period.
Trump received more support from Republicans for his aid suspension, with about two-thirds supporting the decision, and 21% opposing it. But while favoring Trump, one might expect more support for a president from his own party on a top and high-profile policy issue this early in his term.
Of course, a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war could impact public attitudes moving forward, especially at a time when polls show more Americans favor a quick end to the war. For now, though, the bottom line is that the American public appears to have made up its mind on Ukraine and Russia and Trump is cutting against the grain.

Can’t come up with an argument?
I have more productive things to be doing with my life than arguing with a bad-faith brick wall. Bye!
Please explain how I argue in bad faith.
Lmao. Nah. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning
Thanks that's interesting! Another tactic is the 'fake educating', where they provide trash evidence and lots of it, and demand that you look at it otherwise you don't want to learn the 'truth'. There's a tankie here who does that.
I mean not every video I have of the Mariupol Massacre is entirely pro-Russia biased.
One of them show a bad actor in the form of a anti-maidan separatist whom hid a gun, pulled it out and shot at Ukrainian troops before hiding behind a crowd forcing Ukrainian troops to fire into the crowd to get this bad actor but they end up accidentally shooting a unarmed civilian in the head, the photo of the dead body (or sometimes the video but with the bad actor suspiciously cut out iirc) is often sent out without any mention of bad actor and without context.
But videos that take place prior to this incident show Ukrainian troops have also shot at unarmed civilians with little to no provocation nor any bad actor being in play.
I feel bad for you, that you have only that 1 propaganda talking point and video. Against the reams of evil shit Russia has done and everyone knows about. If you want my advice you should switch sides.
I have multiple videos. I’ll just PM you all of them.
You can talk about Russian crimes as well, Bucha et cetera but it doesn’t discount Ukraine’s crimes.
And in the end, this is Zelenskyy’s war.
Sir, this is Russia's war.
Nope, this is Zelenskyy's war.

Are we talking about Russia's crimes in Ukraine, the country it invaded 3 years ago while using double speech about a special operation? When Ukraine has occupied vast amounts of Russian land, stolen Russian children, raped and abused Russian people.. Then maybe I'll watch your shitty propaganda.
How do you feel about your country having groups of male soldiers that the other soldiers rape when they feel like it? You should show your support of russia and its military by joining that group. Then you can be a real brownnoser.
What about it other than that it is truly horrendous stuff?
On the topic of stolen children, perhaps you should research Operation Babylift. Operation Babylift was the mass kidnapping of allegedly orphaned children from South Vietnam to the United States. The Russians gave similar reasons for them evacuating children.
However, many children in both operations were not actually orphans and had families thus in both situations, it was kidnapping not evacuating but in Russia's case, as part of negotations, Russia and Ukraine return children to families.
What the hell was Russia supposed to do? Let them starve to death in rubble?
To paraphrase some guy 5 days ago, many of Ukraine's children were sitting in abandoned orphanages and other abandoned buildings such as schools in an active warzone and then were evacuated from cities the Russians knew that Ukrainians would probably hit with artillery.
Would you rather have them die?
Perhaps you should focus on truly horrendous Russian atrocities like Bucha massacre and Izium massacre.
Downvote count is minus 33 so far. I'm realising that this sealion thing can work both ways.
Have you seen the CIA manual on how to purposefully be so shit at your job that you're harming the place you work for? It's doing the rounds, but I can find you a link if you want. I do realise that you may have little option in this. By all means continue with the word count if this is earning your children a crust of bread and keeping you out of the gulag.
Or maybe you already are on board with doing covert resistance, hence make statements like
'what was Russia supposed to do, leave them to starve to death in rubble?'
After Russia invaded their country, bombed it and killed their parents. Lol, you have to laugh at how you're trying to argue that Russia becomes the good guy because they didn't just leave the children to starve in the rubble the russians themselves created with their illegal war... Instead they stole the children after they had bombed them.
I suggest they give those Ukrainian children back to Ukraine.
Truly unfortunate, but something that Zelenskyy could have prevented.
There are no good guys in geopolitics, it is completely subjective.
A war that Zelenskyy himself created by failing to implement Minsk.
Russia has been returning children to families in Ukraine via agreements and negotiations reached via diplomatic channels in Qatar.
You never responded about the rape battalions. Are you going to show your allegiance and join? Russian men are way too strong and tough to be gay so I'm sure you'll be fine.
If you are referring to the incidents I am thinking of, so says an anti-Putin group that was formed in April 2022 and resides outside Russia.
Lol.
Even if true, Dedovshchina and Dedovshchina-like practices ain't surprising to me anyways considering it happens to most post-Soviet armies including Russia and Ukraine.
Are we still talking about the groups of Russian soldiers who rape the other soldiers? You seem to have gotten a bit vague on this topic.
I'm talking about Russian men raping other men, bad enough, but I believe its also illegal to be gay in Russia? So I'm a bit confused about this.
I'm sure there are at times hard choices to be made in Russia and often the best you can do is make sure you get a stolen washing machine for your sacrifices.
They can really make you an offer you can't refuse if the other option is being a soldier in a battalion which means you get raped by other Russian soldiers and humiliated before you die in the meat grinder with insufficient supplies. I think I'd choose the troll farm too.
I literally addressed this.

Since you cannot read I will do a TLDR.
TLDR: your claim assuming we are talking about the same thing could not be independently verified. Even if true, hazing is conducted in both Ukraine and Russia.
The incidents of what? Is this the russian Tianamen square?
Your claim that Russian soldiers are being forced to rape each other.
They aren't forced. Some are put into groups where they have no status, seemingly like a caste system, and the other soldiers can do whatever they want to them, somewhat like hazing but once they have been raped they're considered worthless and will continue to be raped by anyone, so they're actually forced soldier sex slaves.
As i understand it, the other soldiers who rape them want to do it, they aren't forced, though I guess being forced to do it is more brutal in a way. I'd guess those soldiers get off on the humiliation as well as the obvious - fucking a man. The Russian society is inhumane on many levels.
Maybe the rapists actually aren't gay and the humiliation of another person is enough to do it for them, who knows, maybe they give them viagra. I mean, you would have to ask them.
There seems to be a lot of this brutality around in dictatorships, like the Israeli guards who were recorded raping Palestinian men and then the politicians and people condoned and defended it..
So, Dedovshchina which is practiced in both Russia and Ukraine?
I mean yes, people literally call it the Caste Tyranny of Soviet Armed Forces. It was caused by changes in the length of conscription which led to resentment between conscripts who had to serve a longer period of service and those who were able to serve a shorter period of service. Russia has been cracking down on it since the 2008 reforms with the Military Police being established. I never heard of any verified large scale occurrences of it during the the invasion of Ukraine due to said reforms but it could be possible.
Practiced by Russian men in Russia and ukraine. Yes that's probably it. Glad we're on the same page, and my condolences on being part of such a people.
Nope, also practiced by Ukrainians in Ukraine.
107 Ukrainian soldiers committed suicide as a result of Dedovshchina, and five more died directly due to Dedovshchina.
Also practiced by Azerbaijanis in Azerbaijan.
Practiced by Armenians in Armenia.
Turkmenistan had to formally declare the practice of Dedovshchina illegal in 2014.
Dedovshchina was culled in Baltic militaries similar way that Russia mostly did which is by implementing more western military practices which the Baltics did by joining NATO and Russia by implementing the 2008 military reforms.
