MODERATORS

If a niche community has people that persistently downvote every post

  1. is that healthy for the community?
  2. is that healthy for lemmy in general?

Examples that come to mind are political communities, linus tech tips, diet communities, etc. There will be a group of people who will not make comments, posts, but will strictly downvote everything that is in the community.

This is a continuation of a discussion @[email protected] and I started elsewhere, but it deserves it's own space for meta-moderation discussion.

Did the vote viewing roll out? I'm trying to verify the feature using tesseract.dubvee.org (logged into dubvee.org), not quite sure where to look (its running 1.4.29)

https://github.com/asimons04/tesseract/blob/main/ChangeLog.md

For those unaware, the vote viewer is accessible from the Moderation Modal -> View Votes... button.

That feature requires API 0.19.4 or higher. I'm still running 0.19.3

hackertalks is on 0.19.8, so if you log into that account from tesseract.dubvee.org, you should see that feature enabled.

Yeah, nix is horrible to setup, but once its going its like a bulldozer, keeps me current lol.

Thanks for the hard work, this is a great feature.

Really awesome.

FYI, I was able to ban a systematic downvoter from [email protected]

That's the same person who downvotes everything in [email protected]

They are consistent, heh

I reported them on the Lemmy general moderation chat, maybe they will get banned, we'll see
