Point 1 is wrong. As long as you are a US citizen, Uncle Sam requires you to pay taxes on any income.
No, actually I am right (and so are you!) but there are details here that matter. Your foreign income is indeed subject to US taxes BUT if you pay foreign taxes you can claim the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) that will in most cases eliminate your US tax liability. You will NOT be double-taxed on the same income.
