But on X, Abbas Araghchi said Tehran "has no intention" to continue its response - provided the Israeli regime "stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people".

He added: "The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later."

A senior Iranian official had told the Reuters news agency that Tehran has agreed to the ceasefire after being persuaded by Qatar

It sounds like propaganda on all sides???

The Iranian leader may be saying that to not admit defeat, and Trump may be making shit up and taking credit for something he wasn’t solely responsible for, though the gist of it is correct. And Qatar is the silent hero?

That's assuming hostilities actually stop. It’s possible this is just to disrupt a congress vote?

Ugh, I hate this timeline. Truth is dead, and every bubble is going to see their own version of whatever just happened.

"Truth is the first casualty of war."

Header of the episode of Clone Wars I just watched.

It sounds like, "Sure...if they stop bombing us, we'll stop bombing them." Which "technically" amounts to agreeing to a ceasefire.

But we all know that Trump doesn't actually understand that deals like this require both sides to sign a written document outlining the conditions that all parties have agreed to respect.

He is literally stupid enough to think that a tweet, counts as a deal.

Given that the word "ceasefire" is effectively meaningless to Israel when applied to Palestine and Lebanon, I'm guessing Iran is not optimistic that the terms will actually be honored.

I could def be wrong, but I read this as face saving lip service. Iran’s position is weak right now, I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to stop and regroup for now.
